Since my last post it's been prety mch all Tennessee, 30-30. I still don't think we can hang with them but I'm pretty happy with the Gators tonight so far.
Florida up by 4 at half time. Hopefully, Pearl can motivate during half time and the big orange can pull it off.
At the end of the night the result was about what I expected before the game started. Florida gets off to a fast start but with 2 minutes left Tennessee leads 97-79 and seemingly can't miss. Congratulations Tom.
Great win by Tennessee basketball tonight. They get a huge leg up in the SEC East race. I thought the game was very competitive and entertaining. I'll take a win over Florida in a blowout anytime. When Lofton and Jajuan Smith are hitting those shots and the athletes are running up and down the floor there are only a handful of teams that have a prayer of keeping up, IMO. One thing I noticed while watching the game, there surely can be no argument for home cooking from the refs. I thought Tenn. got called for some very tick tack fouls. I also thought the Technical on Prince was absurd. The guy got fouled hard and the best I could tell he never even said anything and was quickly restrained by teammates. All that is pointless now but still I was scratching my head at some of the calls. On the other side of things, Florida is a very good young basketball team. Everyone seems to think the SEC is down but every team I have had the opportunity to watch Tenn. play has looked very good to me. Florida's not going anywhere as long as Billy the Kid is there.
Hey Aquila, let me add my congratulations to you also. I agree the Gators have a good young team that will continue to improve. However Tennessee has a talented, experienced team that has the potential to win it all this year.
Thanks Bill. Due to an early morning and several important meetings this morning, Cindy and I watched the second half, or at least part of the second half, in bed. Tennessee was up by about 10 points the last I remember seeing. I woke up to sports center telling me that Tennessee had won convincingly. I expected a home court win but not a win that had the look and feel of the blowout we suffered against the Gators in football. I never thought I would be able to say this about the men's team in my lifetime: Go Vols! Take it all the way!!!
The Tenn/Memphis game is on the 23rd. I agree it should be a huge game with a #1 seed possibly on the line. The fact the game is at Memphis gives the Tigers a slight edge I think. However, between now and then Memphis is going to be beating up on Conf. USA while Tennessee is getting battle tested in the SEC. I think that levels the field err....court a little but I think the fact it's at Memphis gives them a slight edge still. This Tennessee team though has the perfect blend of shooting touch and athleticism and the big men seem to get better each game. I think you're looking at a team not only capable of but likely to go to the Final Four.
Hey, in our Skybox basketball contest last year I had Tennessee going to the finals against the Gators. I would have won if you hadn't blown that lead against Ohio State!  However I don't see this team doing that, if the contest were today I would be picking the Vols to go to at least the Final Four.
