NY Democrat Proposes To Repeal 22nd Amendment, Term Limits on Presidency
    [IMG]
It ain’t happening, but the attempt is galling. Hail Obama!

    Via Examiner:

… H.J.Res 15 proposes an amendment to the Constitution of the United States to repeal the Twenty-second Amendment. This would remove the limitation on the number of terms an individual may serve as President. Rep. José Serrano (D- NY15) introduced the controversial joint resolution on Friday, the second day of the 2013 legislative session.

The last President to serve more than two terms was Franklin D. Roosevelt. Roosevelt served three full terms as President and was elected to a fourth term. Roosevelt died 83 days into his fourth term in office.

Congress passed the Twenty-second Amendment on March 21, 1947. The required number of states ratified it in 1951. There have been numerous attempts to repeal the Twenty-second Amendment, including a previous attempt by Rep. Jose Serrano. Rep. Serrano attempted to repeal the Twenty-second Amendment with H.J.Res. 5 in 2009.

Opponents of H.J.Res. 15 are being urged to inform their representatives of their opinions and to voice their opinion on PopVox.com.

Colorado: Hundreds Of Moonbats In Boulder Hold Candlelight Vigil For Elk Killed By Police Officer…
    [IMG]
    Yes, an elk.

    Via Daily Camera:

A couple hundred people turned out tonight to light candles, sing and tell stories as they mourned a beloved bull elk killed on Mapleton Hill in Boulder.

“He was a beautiful animal,” said Nancy Platt, of Boulder. “He was hurting nobody. He didn’t deserve what he got.”

The elk was fatally shot by an on-duty Boulder police officer, who has since been placed on paid administrative leave, pending the results of an internal investigation.
A second off-duty officer, suspected of assisting in loading the animal’s body into a pickup truck and taking it away to be processed for meat, also was placed on leave.

Vigil organizer Jim Riemersma said he wanted to give the neighborhood an opportunity to grieve, celebrate and find “a little bit of closure.” The vigil was held on Mountain View Road at the site of a tree memorial and near the yard where the elk was shot.

“I know a lot of us have had a lot of anger, a lot of questions, a lot of uncertainty,” he said. “Tonight’s a celebration, a celebration of the elk. We loved him. But I think he loved us, too, because he returned to this neighborhood.”

Still, emotions ran hot, with multiple calls to “fire the cops” and “jail the poachers.” A meeting between Boulder Chief Mark Beckner and residents concerned about the shooting is planned for Monday.

It could be worse, they could’ve been crying over dead trees.

University Study: Occupy Wall Street Protesters Were Disproportionately Rich, Overwhelmingly White…

    Via NRO:

According to a new study from sociologists at the City University of New York, more than a third of activists in the Occupy movement in New York City had household incomes above $100,000, placing them at the cusp of the top quintile of income distribution in America. Researchers surveyed 729 people who participated in a May 1 rally last year and were involved in the “occupation” of Zuccotti Park in the fall of 2011, and found that they were more affluent, whiter, younger, much more highly educated, and more likely to be male than the average New Yorker.

Non-Hispanic whites constituted 62 percent of all respondents, though they make up only 33 percent of New York City residents. While only about a third of Americans hold bachelors’ degrees, 76 percent of respondents who had completed their education had a four-year college degree and 39 percent had graduate degrees. Among college graduates, more than a quarter went to top-ranked schools, which might help explain why the majority of graduates under 30 had some student debt. While 10 percent of participants were unemployed, 71 percent were employed in professional occupations. Eight percent were “blue collar.”

White House Blames Republicans For Today’s Awful GDP Number…
    [IMG]
In reality the GDP contraction was related to cuts in defense spending, the same cuts Obama and the Dems insisted on.

    Via The Hill:

White House press secretary Jay Carney laid the blame for a surprise economic contraction squarely at the feet of congressional Republicans Wednesday, saying economic threats during the “fiscal cliff” negotiations had prevented important defense spending.

“Our economy is facing a major headwinds, and that’s Republicans in Congress,” Carney said.

The Commerce Department projected Wednesday that the nation’s gross domestic product (GDP) shrank by 0.1 percent in the fourth quarter of 2012.

Carney said that was partially attributable to the threat of sequestration, which would implement across-the-board spending cuts if a long-term deficit deal is not reached.

“This is political brinkmanship that results in one primary victim. That’s American taxpayers and the American middle class,” Carney said, acknowledging the GDP projection was bad news.

Observations From a Canuck – Half of America, at the very least, is Corrupt, Deranged, Stupid or Evil

    Home - by BigFurHat - January 31, 2013 - 22:32 America/New_York - 7 Comments

This was a commenter at CNS News on the thread posted by Norman Einstein in the Bullpen. It’s the story about Obamacare being estimated to cost about 20 GRAND a year for a family of 4.

    The guy is right.

    planeboy

TOP-11 “ONLY IN AMERICA” OBSERVATIONS — BY A CANADIAN*
    1) Only in America could the rich people – who pay 86% of all income taxes – be accused of not paying their “fair share” by people who don’t pay any income taxes at all.
    2) Only in America could people claim that the government still discriminates against black Americans when they have a black President, a black Attorney General, and roughly 18% of the federal workforce is black while only 12% of the population is black
    3) Only in America could they have had the two people most responsible for our tax code, Timothy Geithner, the head of the TreasuryDepartment and Charles Rangel who once ran the Ways and Means Committee, BOTH turn out to be tax cheats who are in favor of higher taxes.
    4) Only in America can they have terrorists kill people in the name of Allah and have the media primarily react by fretting that Muslims might be harmed by the backlash.
    5) Only in America would they make people who want to legally become American citizens wait for years in their home countries and pay tens of thousands of dollars for the privilege while we discuss letting anyone who sneaks into the country illegally just ‘magically’ become American citizens.
    6) Only in America could the people who believe in balancing the budget and sticking by the country’s Constitution be thought of as”extremists.”
    7) Only in America could you need to present a driver’s license to cash a check or buy alcohol, but not to vote.
    8) Only in America could people demand the government investigate whether oil companies are gouging the public because the price of gas went up when the return on equity invested in a major U.S. oil company(Marathon Oil) is less than half of a company making tennis shoes(Nike).
    9) Only in America could the government collect more tax dollars from the people than any nation in recorded history, still spend a Trillion dollars more than it has per year – for total spending of $7-Million PER MINUTE, and complain that it doesn’t have nearly enough money.
    10) Only in America could politicians talk about the greed of the rich at a $35,000.00 a plate campaign fund-raising event.
    11) Only in America can a man with no background, no qualification sand no experience … and a complete failure at his job … be re-elected.

Obama Eliminates Cooked Breakfast For Some Troops in Afghanistan, Let Them Eat MREs
    [IMG]
    Via Frontpage:

If only American soldiers in Afghanistan were unemployed Democratic voters in Chicago, then they might be getting three square meals a day from the government.

But the military is the one place that Obama feels comfortable slashing expenses. While spending at an uncontrollable rate unseen since the last days of the Roman Empire in every other area, Obama has been cutting “waste” in the military like 20,000 Marines, Tricare healthcare for veterans and breakfast for soldiers serving in areas where he would only venture accompanied by heavy firepower.

Warren Buffett and other crony capitalists can pig out on Obama’s trillion dollar deficits. As for the troops, let them eat MREs.

The Army has stopped serving cooked breakfasts to some of the U.S. soldiers in Afghanistan as part of its drawdown, a move that prompted troops to write home asking their families and friends to send care packages with cereal, breakfast bars and other foods.

The Army told the Washington Guardian the current cutbacks began Jan. 1, and affect about 2,700 soldiers deployed in forward operating bases in more remote areas of Afghanistan.

Obama’s Pick To Be New Interior Secretary A Hardcore Global Warming Fanatic…
    [IMG]
    She’ll fit right in.

    Via Washington Secrets:

REI, the popular outfitter run by President Obama’s choice to head the Interior Department, cited the impact of global warming as a reason for poor profits in its most recent annual report. [...]

Obama’s pick is REI CEO Sally Jewell, who has run the firm since 2005. Under Jewell, REI has blossomed while pursuing a green agenda aimed at cutting carbon emissions and dressing shoppers in environmentally-sensitive gear and clothing.

In a 2007 interview with the enviro-website Grist, she bemoaned REI’s carbon footprint, especially from employees commuting to work and even the companies travel program. “One of the shockers to me is 26 percent of REI’s greenhouse-gas footprint is REI Adventure travel trips, like the one I’m about to take. It’s almost as much as — or maybe it’s equal to — all of the electricity generated by all of our facilities. And that is, like, stunning,” she said.

Durbin: Obama “Designed Sequester As A Threat”…
    [IMG]
Actually, he signed it as a law.

(CNSNews.com) – Assistant Senate Majority Leader Dick Durbin (D-Ill.) said that President Obama originally designed the budget sequester as a threat to get Republicans to agree to raise taxes, never intending it to actually be policy.

equestration was designed as a budget threat, not as a budget strategy, Durbin said on NBC’s “Meet the Press” Sunday.

“When the president proposed the sequester, it was as an incentive to those of us in Congress to work together on a bipartisan basis to solve these problems. It was supposed to be so awful that the super committee would finally reach a bipartisan agreement.”

Durbin is referring to the congressional committee created by the 2011 Budget Control Act (BCA) and assigned the task of cutting $1.5 trillion from the deficit. Under the BCA, if the committee – colloquially dubbed the Super Committee – failed to achieve the cuts, they would happen automatically. These automatic cuts are known as the sequester.

Durbin said that Democrats want to avoid sequestration, but insist that Republicans agree to raise taxes even more – despite the GOP agreeing to allow rates on wealthier Americans to rise in January as part of the fiscal cliff deal.

No question the sequestration was designed to force Congress to work together and come up with a better plan.

The genius of it is that it was designed by Democrats, and they have turned it around on the Republicans to make them take the blame from the public if sequestration should occur...even though it was a Democrat idea from the start and the Dems are the ones, IMHO who are refusing to compromise or work together. It's My Way or the Highway...and your fault if we go over.

    "Sequestration"?....they should call it Castration.

Taxpayers Fund Study To Discredit Tea Party As Creation Of Big Tobacco…
    [IMG]
The Tea Party is the spawn of big tobacco? That’s a new one.

(Fox News) — Taxpayer dollars were used to fund a study that painted the Tea Party movement as the spawn of the tobacco lobby — a premise that Tea Party leaders say is absurd.

The study was published earlier this month in the Tobacco Control journal and was formally presented by its authors at an on-campus symposium in San Francisco Feb. 8.

“The Tea Party that we see in 2009 actually has decades of influence from tobacco and other corporate interests,” co-author Amanda Fallin said at the time, downplaying the notion that the group is just a “spontaneous grassroots movement.”

The charge that the Tea Party is a tool of broader corporate interests is one often leveled by Democratic critics. House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi was fond of calling the movement “astroturf” in the run-up to the 2010 mid-term elections where Tea Partiers helped Republicans take control of the House.

The research at the University of California-San Francisco echoes the claim, while weaving in an attractive narrative for Tea Party critics — that the Tea Party is continuing the agenda of the tobacco industry.

Tea Party leaders, though, roundly rejected the findings. They argued that the groups the study focused on do not compose the entirety of the movement, and that the tobacco issue is a relatively minor aspect of the present-day small-government agenda.

And they complained that a study that arguably targeted administration critics was funded by taxpayers.

“It’s an example of the frivolous spending inside the government … that has landed us $17 trillion in debt,” said Tea Party Patriots co-founder Jenny Beth Martin.

The Perpetual Campaigner To Travel The Country Campaigning Against Sequester Cuts He Signed Into Law…
    [IMG]
If he truly wanted to avoid the cuts he would be in Washington trying to broker a deal with Republicans. But that is obviously not the case.

    Via Politico 44:

President Barack Obama will ramp up his case for avoiding the across-the-board spending cuts over the next two weeks, senior administration officials said Tuesday.

With the cuts set to hit March 1, Obama will travel the country and host events at the White House aimed at raising the pressure on Republicans, the officials said

Obama Says He’s Creating New Voting-Rights Commission To Prevent “New Tricks” From Racist GOP…
    [IMG]
    Via Washington Times:

President Obama said Friday that his new voting-rights commission will help to prevent state officials from engaging in “new tricks” that discourage minorities from voting.

“It’s very important that we work together to make sure everybody gets a chance to vote, and we clear away a lot of this nonsense,” Mr. Obama said in an interview with SiriusXM radio. He added that the country needs more election rules “to make sure that people aren’t waiting in line for six, seven hours, that there aren’t new tricks that discourage people from voting.”

Although he did not single out Republicans by name, Mr. Obama’s comments came after the two major parties sparred continually during last election cycle over new voting requirements instituted in a string of GOP-controlled states. Backers of the new laws say they were needed to prevent polling fraud, while critics said they were a way to intimidate or curtail voting primarily by low-income and minority voters, who tended to back the president.

Mr. Obama told Sirius host Joe Madison that new regulations to protect minority voting rights would guard against the impact of a potential Supreme Court ruling to strike down Section 5 of the Voting Rights Act of 1965. The justices next week will hear oral arguments in an Alabama case in which Shelby County officials argue that they ought to be finally free of the law’s requirements, which mandate that officials in certain jurisdictions seek “pre-clearance” from the federal government before enacting any new election laws.

20 Most Embarrassing Moments In History Of Democratic Party
    [IMG]
This doesn’t even count Debbie Wasserman Schultz being caught lying at convention, voting “No” to God and Israel, Jesse Jackson’s “Hymie Town” remark.

    Via Townhall:

    1) The Trail of Tears (1838): The first Democrat President, Andrew Jackson and his successor Martin Van Buren, herded Indians into camps, tormented them, burned and pillaged their homes and forced them to relocate with minimal supplies. Thousands died along the way.

    2) Democrats Cause The Civil War (1860): The pro-slavery faction of the Democrat Party responded to Abraham Lincoln’s election by seceding, which led to the Civil War.

    3) Formation of the KKK (1865): Along with 5 other Confederate veterans, Democrat Nathan Bedford Forrest created the KKK.

    4) 300 Black Americans Murdered (1868): “Democrats in Opelousas, Louisiana killed nearly 300 blacks who tried to foil an assault on a Republican newspaper editor.”

    5) The American Protective League and The Palmer Raids (1919-1921): Under the leadership of Woodrow Wilson, criticizing the government became a crime and a fascist organization, the American Protective League was formed to spy on and even arrest fellow Americans for being insufficiently loyal to the government. More than 100,000 Americans were arrested, with less than 1% of them ever being found guilty of any kind of crime.

    6) Democrats Successfully Stop Republicans From Making Lynching A Federal Crime (1922): “The U.S. House adopted Rep. Leonidas Dyer’s (R., Mo.) bill making lynching a federal crime. Filibustering Senate Democrats killed the measure.”
