Seems Bama is trying to get other SEC teams to amend their schedules because of byes the week before thay play the Tide. I don't think Mark Richt or Auburn fans would feel too bad for Bama... "Speaking of Alabama, the Crimson Tide has been the subject of a growing controversy in SEC circles over the last few weeks, and the league office apparently took note. Individual teams have released their schedules, but the league office is holding off due to an quirk on Bama's schedule. As it stands right now, the final six SEC opponents on Alabama's schedule -- South Carolina, Ole Miss, Tennessee, LSU, Mississippi State and Auburn -- will all be coming off the bye week prior to facing the Crimson Tide." http://cfn.scout.com/2/954017.html
I feel Bill cringing over this post. Dave, as an opponent of people discussing Gator schedules, one would think that you would stay away from discussing such issues.
Tom....as always you think it stops with me. Read....." a growing controversy in SEC circles" Heck....I didn't know I represent circles.
Dave, there are circles in this world that wear white sheets and hoods but I doubt you will see any of them in Harlem wearing those items. My point is that you brought up schedules. If someone wants to now discuss points about the Florida schedule, I don't want to hear your whining.
I don't think I have ever "whined" when someone get's silly about UF's schedule. I just in turn point out some facts and usually refer to the SOS. In this case....College Football News finds it interesting that Bama is trying to get other teams to shift their byes around to accomodate Bama. I find that amusing........and I can't blame a team like Georgia, who had to play at LSU in 2008 the week before playing Florida.....for saying tough sh*t......or Auburn....who has been playing Bama after the Tide has either byes or cupcakes.
MCG, It's not a big deal for Alabama, but the university did ask the SEC office to look into it. You cited an individual game for Georgia and you throw in "cupcakes" when you talked about Auburn but you do know that Auburn had a bye week ahead of the Alabama game last year as well, right? In this case this is 6 of our 8 conference opponents. Also, Alabama didn't ask other teams to accomodate anything, we asked the league office to look into the matter. Of course, it will probably result in 6 of 8 of Florida's SEC opponents getting the bye week now, because as you know everyone hates Florida.
MCG, You know you are starting to act like an Auburn fan. They usually post more items trying to slam Alabama than they do about their own team. Alabama fans actually take that as compliment.
Think about it....many times in the past 30 years I couldn't give two craps about what Bama was doing......and neither could the media unless the Tide was getting in trouble again or firing their coach. Had a couple of good years under Stallings and now this resurgence under Saban.....at least until he gets happy feet and moves on again for the umpteenth time.
You matter more to Fla fans these days.......it's a function of winning. And being the consensus #1 heading into the season makes you a mark for all teams.
Somehow, I get this picture in my mind: There is a lion on the plaines grooming himself and a little chihuahua is bouncing up and down barking and biting at the ankles of the lion. After the lion has had enough of this pesky critter, he slaps him into the next county with very little effort. Take a guess who the chihuahua is, Dave...
...after so many fruitless tries that little doggie wears Orange......yes.....I get it! Good analogy. ....get pissed if you want Tom but you asked for it..... Florida has won 3 NCs to one for Bama in the past 15 years and has more SEC titles as well......but more ominously Meyer is back at practice and UF just had one of the most phenomenal recruiting classes on record. ....Tee hee for now Kp....
