I know there isn't much interest in Women's BBall here (except when ND or Tenn are on a roll ) but the finals of the B1G tourney today pit Purdue vs. MSU. We will not be favored, and it hasn't been the greatest of years for us but... Purdue has now been in the final game in 13 of 19 B1G tournaments...and won them 8 times.
Purdue has had an outstanding womens BB program for years. Witness the NCAA championship in, I think, 2000 (the year before ND won). Weren't they ranked in the top 25 going into the tournament?
1998-99 Season, Sid. Hate to put the kiss of death on us, but we are a #3 seed....our record as a #3 seed in this tourney is 15-1.
Katie Douglas is one of the top womens basketball players I've ever seen. You guys have been an outstanding program for a long time. You pretty much had Indiana recruiting to yourself as IU never seemed to interested in womens basketball. Won a Nat'l Title in 1999 with Carolyn Peck who promptly left just like Nell Fortner. But even so just looking at your record you've made the NCAA's almost every year since then.
Gary Harris (MSU) mom (Joy Holmes Harris) waa an all American at Purdue, played in WNBA, and graduated from my high school.
