Now that conference play has commenced, it appears that it is going to be a rugged race for about five or six teams. Michigan State has already lost to Iowa on the road. Purdue had a huge win over Illinois last night in West Lafayette. Ohio State surprised me with a big win at home over Nebraska. We will be challenged Saturday against the Illini in Champaign.
Surprised?!?.....that's being kind Don....I will say that OSU must have been off their game cause they couldn't cover the 35 pt spread.... Nebraska Basketball is terrible, terrible, terrible....but we are getting a new arena!!!
Don, great defensive effort in the first half. I think the more minutes that Amir gets in the middle, the better off we will be come tournament time. Defensively he allows Craft and the other perimeter defenders to be more aggressive (!) and in time will become more ssertive and develop a serviceable offensive threat in the post. While they may struggle at times with growing pains in conference play, I continue to believe this team can develop into a tough out come tourney time.....
Michigan State lost to Minnesota, who currently is a top ten team. Fear the Tubby. IU got by Iowa despite Jordan Hull's 0-fer.
Sid, this year in this conference, I fear everybody! It is a very deep and talented conference this year with as many as 6 teams title worthy imo....it will be a long tough road for everybody and every conference victory will be a good one....road wins will be incredibly difficult
Let's not overlook Purdue's home win against #11 Illinois to go over .500. (Cue Stu). It has to be considered a major upset at this stage of the young conference season. It reinforces how tough it is in the B10 to play in other teams' arenas. Ask Jordan Hulls of IU. His career worst games have been in Carver-Hawkeye.
Watched the game. We won it with hustle, which has never been a problem. Shooting was better. Byrd was hitting from the outside. Made a few free throws. Illini got cold late in the game. Was nice to see that happen to somebody else for a change. Illini coach seemed like a bit of a hothead.
Groce is one of the apples from Matta's coaching tree...didn't see the game, but I many think he can be a good one. Didn't remember him being a hothead in Columbus but can't say I watched his sideline deameanor too closely either....nice win Stu
Huge win for the Buckeyes over Michigan. No undefeated teams at this point. Should be a great season for those who enjoy basketball.
I enjoy Basketball but I enjoy it more when Tennessee is more than a side note. Men's team has games where the offense is still in bead with 2 minutes left in the game and the Women's team is still in mourning over the loss of Pat.
Big 10 is a lot like a the Big East, lot of good teams makes it impossible to win them all. Makes for a great conference season and you guys will get a lot of teams into the tournament this year.
Don, Great win for this team as they struggle to find a mix and an identity that can carry them for a good run at the conference title and a deep run in the tourney.....very inconsistent but have shown flashes for stretches this year. First 15 minutes against M and first half at Duke they looked brilliant.....-v- Illinois, they looked pitiful. Defensive effort in the first half against M was absolutely superb. They can be a great defensive team when energized. B1G looks as stacked top to bottom as I have seen in a long time.....I can easily see the conference champ having 4 or 5 losses. Any road win is a tough one. Conference RPI is such that they could have 7 teams in the tournament....very tough on any given nite. http://www.teamrankings.com/ncaa-basketball/rpi-ranking/rpi-rating-by-conf
Did you guys see where Oden is going to give a go again in the NBA? I hope he's healthy finally, all those knee surgeries have to have taken a toll. I hope he makes it.
I did see that....great kid. He's been spending alot of his time in Columbus while rehabbing...going to school and working with the Ohio State bigs (and they need ALOT of work!). I hope he makes it also, he is still a young man with tremendous upside. I hope somebody gives him a shot, he stays healthy and plays for another 10 years.....
