Per ESPN: Rod Bramblett, the radio voice of the Auburn Tigers, and his wife, Paula, died from injuries suffered in a car accident Saturday night in Alabama, the Lee County Coroner's Office confirmed early Sunday morning. The driver of the other vehicle was a 16-year-old youth. What a sad ending all the way around for the parties involved.
Today is really a dark day for all involved. Bramblett was to Auburn fans what Eli Gold is to Alabama fans. And it was a kid driver.. just awful.
yes and apparently the Bramblett's were hit from behind hard enough to kill them both. I wonder if texting was the cause. Terrible news.
Hit from behind? Were they at a stop light or sign? He must have been going at a really high rate of speed, texting or alcohol?
Terry, I haven't seen any specifics other than they were rear-ended by a kid driver. I would imagine that the driver would have to be 1. Speeding and 2. Distracted for this horrific tragedy to have taken place.
Local Auburn news is reporting the youth was admitted to a local hospital and is in serious condition.
Minnesota assistant men's basketball coach also in a terrible accident, he and his son survived but he lost his wife and daughter. Driver was 23 and was also killed, she was going the wrong way on a one way street.
Update on 16 year old who crashed into the back of the car that killed announcer and his wife: Teen in crash that killed Auburn announcer says he fell asleep at the wheel.
The 16-year-old has now been arrested and charged with manslaughter. Toxicology reports showed traces of marijuana and excessive speed well over 55 miles per hour.
