I got my grandson on an airplane headed back to Alabama via Dallas, TX today. The Ontario Airport here was swarming with Auburn fans flying in to town for the game. There were too many to count. Meanwhile, there has been no sign of their opponent......not one.
Down to this one game....if the team Bill picked wins, he wins. If he and Wendy picked the same team to win, and it loses Wendy wins. If they picked different teams....well my head can't wrap around it. Bill has 29 points on the winner and Wendy 7. Bill is only 1 point behind Wendy.
Let's see......Did Bill and Wendy go with their SEC brother, or did they go with the team that beat Florida? Only the Shadow knows.
I love the SEC/hate FSU as you know.... ( also hate Auburn too... decidedly so.) So in this one I have to pick who seems to be best team flat out.... and that's FSU. I can't really lose in this one because someone's fan base who I despise will be extremely disappointed....
I think last years Notre Dame/Alabama game was a record for prices. See ND being good is good for the game of football!! http://espn.go.com/college-football/bowls13/story/_/id/10250044/2014-vizio-bcs-national-championship-tickets-cheapest-14-year-history
Ranking the BCS Champions. 1. Miami 2001 ...Greatest Team of the Modern Era? 2. Texas 2005 ....Greatest Athlete to ever play QB? 3. USC 2004 ....Best Team money can buy? 4. Alabama 2011... Didn't even win their division or conf champ. 5. Alabama 2009....2nd best team on the field that night if Colt McCoy isn't injured by a ruffian on the 'Bama DL. http://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/ncaaf/2014/01/06/football-four-ranking-bcs-national-champions/4318221/
The loss to Ohio St in January 2003 still hurts in spite of it being a great game to watch as a fan. The Texas/USC game was another great exciting game to watch. Last years Alabama team and this years FSU team may give Miami's 2001 team a run for its money in overall talent on the field. They just have not had the time to prove it yet at the next level...
The list should also have listed the 2003 Trojans. They weren't recognized by the BS (granted, which this article is about) but they were still national champions that year. USC, only loss was in TRIPLE OT AT Cal (8-6) and ends up 12-1 LSU, only loss was by double digits at HOME against Floriday (8-5) and ends up 12-1 OU, only loss (before the NC) was DEMOLITION, 35-7 in the B12 CG against KSU (11-4) USC then beat the B10 Champ Michigan, who was ranked #4, 28-14, in the Rose Bowl. LSU beat OU, who was ranked #3, 21-14, in the NC. USC was screwed.
Based on Terry's analysis, Bill's comment, and the fact that even the slightest success by FSU turns my stomach ... I hope Bill wins the contest handily! 8)
Bull crap. Southern Cal is never screwed. When something bad happens to them, they always deserve it.
Truth is I just couldn't bring myself to pick FSU and since I went with the underdog I just doubled down and picked them high. War Eagle.
I think FSU has a heck of a team and I actually expected them to win. However I also know they only had the 64th hardest schedule in the country and haven't played a team as strong as Auburn. War Eagle.
Text from Gator offspring currently in G-ville: "Step it up you filthy barbarians from the ACC" Notice I said currently in G-ville, he may need to quit school to pick oranges with anymore text like that tonight.
