After wandering in the desert for several years due to the negligent mismanagment of a wheezing idiot of a coach, the Aggies have finally rediscovered how to play the game of football. No, they are not perfect and won't challenge for any championships this season (13 freshman played in the opener!) but we served notice that we are no longer the Keystone Kops of college football. I got to see an honest to goodness defense again. One that pursues the ball relentlessly and arrives with ill intentions. They make mistakes... but mistakes make you better. After one game in '09, they have 1/3 the sack total of '08. The offensive line is still a work in progress, but is much better than last year. Just letting the rest of the conference know... the days of the maroon patsy are OVER!
Easy now! Actually my Aggie nephews both said it was the first time in a long time that they'd actually witnessed a good football team. Hopes are high with good reason. What do you think is going to happen with Tanehill? Is he going to stay the backup, I noticed Doran played and Tanehill played but as a WR. In comments recently I thought I got the impression he wasn't giving up on playing QB even though he didn't win the job. Is he the backup?
I don't know if I'd say we're a "good" team, but at least we're not actively bad as we have been for the last 3 years. Lots of speculation about Tannehill. He came in as a WR on 3rd downs only. From what I've heard, the coaches are confident in his abilities as a QB, and wanted to see what Dorman would do. If we see RT at QB in he next two games, I'll believe that. If not, I'll expect to see him more at WR where he could have a very good career. He's got the speed and hands to be a significant weapon for any offense as we saw last year.
