Athlon pre season top 25. https://athlonsports.com/college-football/very-early-college-football-top-25-2017
None of this matters. Alabama plays Florida State in the opener. The winner of that game becomes the team to beat.
I know it doesn't matter KP but it's something to look at during football downtime. As to the Tide - Noles game, the loser can still make the playoff. Interesting that on the same day we have that game and Florida - Michigan.
I always look at them. I know some people are irritated that there are pre-season rankings or that the rankings come out before Oct 1. But to me I like them, and while certainly there are teams ranked too high and teams ranked too low, but so what. By the end of the season if you have had a good season you are likely to be ranked about where you should be, reason I saw "about" is that fans always think their team is ranked too low and your team is ranked too high. In fact by the time the first committee rankings come out they pretty much mirror the AP and Coaches polls anyway. So I never get the controversy over a team ranked in the top 10 who loses a couple of games and then falls out by Oct 1.
Yeah they did say this was a prediction of the end of the season finish. That's better than predicting that both Alabama and Florida State will finish undefeated.
KP, Think about how much fun that would be playing FSU the week before the SEC Title game. You would certainly relish that. Although some seasons like possibly the one coming up.... possibly.....maybe.... Auburn the week before is a challenge as well. But that game is a necessary SEC conference game. I hate when FSU is very very good.... like they have been lately..... and you throw that in right before Atlanta. UF has to field national title caliber teams to compete with that kind of challenge and they haven't been able to muster that in recent seasons.
I remember opening every year with Michigan. No quarter was given then, and there's no quarter to be expected now.
Kp, FSU in the Fisher years has been extremely good.... and is a non-conference foe annually right before Atlanta. That's a bitch of a opponent to have to play at the very end of the season. I do wish the game was moved to the first game rather than the last.
For what it's worth Auburn's cumulative record in 2009, '14, '15 and '16.... all years in which Bama beat UF in Atlanta for the SEC Title.... was 31-21 while in those same years FSU had a cumulative recored of 40-13. Not saying that game with Auburn was or is easy..... they do play lights out vs. the Tide.... but if I had a choice I would rather see UF playing the Tigers the week before Atlanta instead of the equally nasty and fired up Seminoles.
Been there, Ralph. We've had to deal with Southern Cal's chants and and annoying band for too many years. We don't play FSU often enough to be as annoyed as you, but when we do, they remind me of Southern Cal.
] That would be sweet and it could start with a good ole fashioned butt whippin of Mr. Fisher and his team by Mr. Saban's team. I would enjoy it so much I could easily deal with Kp coming on here and asking me what all the fuss was about..... the noles were a pushover...
MCG, I'm not sure why you are still posting. I've already conceded that Florida's schedule is far more difficult than anyone elses in the universe. Can you not take yes for an answer?
