Happens all the time, has for years. Teams lose to a team below them and still stay ahead of them in the polls. Sometimes it might be the right thing to do though. Not saying it is in this case. But what about a team that is really very good, a top 10 team, who gets upset by a unranked team. Maybe even one who's record is such that even that victory doesn't get them to .500? Do you drop the top 10 team out of the standings completely?
AJ posted the ranking earlier and in fact some of them are absurd. This article really nails some of the problems. It's a good article. I wish we had the power to make changes. Until they do I guess all any of us can do is hope our team gets a fair shake. I would seem really dumb if I made the claim the Gators have gotten a raw deal so I won't. Thanks to both AJ and Corey.
Terry, No one is saying to put the team with a losing record ahead of the top 10 team. What we're talking about here is two 3-1 teams. One clearly beats the other, yet is still ranked behind the other. The 3-1 team that won the head to head matchup has 1 loss but that loss came to an undefeated team.. The fact that it happens all the time and has for some time just strengthens the point of the writer.
Couldn't agree more, sometimes it seems like there is an unwritten rule that says you can't drop a team more than X (7-9) spots in the poll after a loss no matter what.
