    Go Navy!!!

Here's a lame attempt by the Army. They apparently don't have artillery tables that tell them to account for the wind, they missed their target pretty badly in the end.

Cammo Uniforms for the Army, nice touch....if the game were being played in a jungle....but I'm pretty sure the Navy can still see them!! :)

Holy Crap, the Navy snapper sails the snap over the punters head 30 yds to the endzon...but the Navy punter gets it in the endzone and gets off a 50 yd punt!! I've never seen anything like that.

    Famous MASH Scene.

Guys are huddled around radio listening to the Army/Navy game:

Fr. Mulcahy: Let's win one for the Gipper

Col Blake: Father, Notre Dame isn't playing

Fr. Mulcahy: "Oh...well, what's all the excitement about?"

I've always wanted to go to one of these games and finally got my chance this year.....spent the weekend in Philly and enjoyed every minute of it. An extraordinary experience and truly unlike any other sporting event I've ever attended on many levels.

The wife is a Navy brat - her dad was a sub skipper, tho not an Academy guy. Got an invite from a buddy and up we went clad in our Navy gear. Arrived at our hotel only to find it was the HQ for the West Point crowd. Oops....behind enemy lines already. Weather was COLD.....

Made a major score Friday afternoon by getting an invite to the local ABC affiliates skybox - 30 degree temps, blustery wind and spitting snow, not to mention free food and drinks, an offer too good to refuse.

Started out VERY early Sat morning - noon kick off - but the Mids and the Cadets begin to march on at 9:00 and wanted to partake of all of the pomp. The local cops were not impressed with my parking credentials - no matter what ABC says, the President was coming to town so ABC had less inluence than did the Secret Service who was doing the security screening at the gate. After getting booted from my stadium side, valet lot - thanks Mr President - we bummed around and found the nearest $20 lot half a world away.

Walked through an amazing caravan of buses - 100 or so from West Point and 100 or so from Annapolis. It is a great and wonderful thing that the entirety of the Corps of Cadets and the Brigade of Midshipmen make the trip....the sea of mids and cadets is a special sight as they begin to form for the march on. I've never been called "sir" more often in a such a short period of time in my life. I can report that this latest version of our nation's up and coming military officer corps are magnificent kids - men and women.

Great, great stuff.....due to the President's visit, the security was a little more daunting than usual and the lines stretched forever....took so long we missed the Mids march on but did get in the stadium in time for the Cadets. What a sight.....we were treated for our lengthy wait in line as Air Force One did a low level flyover of the stadium on its approach.....awesome sight as was the view of the Presidential motorcade on the interstate and streets leading to the stadium. A heartwarming experience for all was the reception the President got upon his entry onto the field......the arrival of a beloved Commander-in-Chief - for certain -and the reception one would expect and that he would deserve. A lasting memory for me.....

Navy SEAL and Army paratroopers "jumped" the game balls into the stadium just before a thundering flyover by 4 F-18 SuperHornets and Army Apache gunships....way cool stuff.

The game was really a non-event.....the Mids are so far superior to Army at this point, it's barely competitive - which I don't like to see. I much prefer the nailbiters filled with emotion to the end.

All in, an experience of a lifetime for me. An extraordinary event and one that I would recommend for all if the opportunity ever presents itself.

    God bless America.....

    Terry,

Lucky dog! I still regret not catching the game at the Rose Bowl. This is still one of those things on my bucket list.

It indeed was on mine, which is how the opportunity arose. I mentioned the games on my list in passing to a buddy of mine who happened to be an Academy grad and former F-18 pilot and he said, "Done!"

Wow, Terry! Thanks for putting us in your place and feeling like we shared the experience with you. I hope to attend the "event" someday.
