I'm going to be truthful, and for.enlisted sailors the Naval Academy is not much of an emotional tie. Now it is The NAVAL Academy so there is that tie but hell, I spent 24 years in the organization so I have to pull for them!
kp..my brother was an Army ROTC guy coming out of Xavier, I remember him saying the West Point guys looked down their noses at the reservist. I was in the Navy of course, but no Annapolis guys in the Dental Corp so I don't know if they are that way in the Navy.
Terry, yeah the Naval Academy officers (derisively called "ring knockers") sometimes were not very good ensigns but most got better with age. One of the responsibilities of the Navy Chief is to train the JOs and Academy grads could be challenging.
The old saying in the Corps when dealing with 2nd lieutenants is; "keep talking sir, we'll find you!"
That said, the 3 most alarming things you can hear in the Corps is: 2nd Lt = In my experience Pvt = I got this Gunny = Watch this ****
