Interesting. Jimmy Clausen played all year with an "undisclosed" injury. If that is true, I wonder how good he would have been last year if he'd been healthy. The couple of times I saw him on TV he looked great and he looked good at the Army All-American game. He took some heat for not participating in the Elite 11 QB camp, but maybe the injury was the problem and they didn't want anybody finding out.

This article doesn't say what the injury is though or what the potential cure is ..surgery???

Irish coach Charlie Weis kept Clausen from throwing during winter 7-on-7 workouts.

Apparently Charlie was advised of the situation?

You have to assume that the Clausens didn't hide the problem from Charlie, but you never know. It wasn't addressed.

What do I know about ND, but given what I perceive to be Weis' personality, an intelligent person wouldn't try to pull something like this over on him, lest he end up being a four-year starter on the scout team. I hope this turns out to be a non-event.

I recall a situation similar to this at USC a few years back. The kid had to return something like two thirds of his signing bonus.

On the way home a few days ago, I was listening to the Larry Elder radio show. The call-in guest was former Trojan player Anthony Davis, who demanded that modern college football players should be paid just like the pros. Davis, who never graduated from USC, or even attended a class that anyone can remember, drove a Mercedes Benz during his playing days. When the LA Times asked him how a poor 19 year-old college kid from San Fernando could afford such an automobile, he replied, "I earned this car with my summer job..."

Does Anthony Davis have a job yet? Or or the USC boosters still paying him? :)

    Somebody is certainly feeding him...

I wonder if that gold #1 he wears around the area where his neck used to be represents his assigned place in the buffet line.

    Clausen

<t>I think anything about Clausen will be overhyped for now. It doesn't look like CW is holding him out of Spring Practice so I guess we'll just have to wait and see.</t>

I see that Clausen is working at 4th string QB right now. Glad to see Charlie is making him earn the slot by working his way up. I'd be pretty satisfied if Clausen was this years Colt McCoy, although Clausen has a much better arm than Colt McCoy. :)

I'm sure Armando and Mr. Clausen have now had little Chat's with Charlie about speaking to the press about injuries.

Charlie had this to say in the Spring Press Conference. :)

Here's some stuff on other QB situations. I didn't know that Az had a Mike Leach Protege' as the OCoord. Since Leach claims he doesn't have a playbook and writes his game plan on a scratch pad before kickoff, I guess the transition for the Wildcats will be pretty easy. :) Of course they'll have to keep him away from the liquor stores if he's truly a Lumpy protege'.

    What??!!!

No mention of Meyer and Tebow?? No discussion about whether or not we'll see more spread option in 2007 and whether or not it will work in the SEC???!

Man .... I guess that's the price of being a basketball school ... well at least for another two days.

UF loses Juco transfer QB B Waggener, presumably the #2 behind Tebow, to a broken foot. UF will work through Spring with only 2 schollie QBs, Tebow and true freshman Cam Newton.
