Or did this writer over do it with the hyperbole? The title of the article is "John Brantley Bombs in Fla Spring Game". Apparently not a good outing for the offense. Fla Spring Game
No Terry, I am not worried. What ever will be will be. I think that the spring doesn't have a lot to do with what will happen in the fall. That is the spring game doesn't have a lot to do with it. Of course the practice this spring does have a lot to do with what happens next fall, just not the game. There were close to 20 players held out and the whole system is new. Also we have two QB's coming in, actually one was in the Spring game, that are very highly rated, if Brantley fails to do the job, then one of them takes over. We are not likely to win the NC this year so if Brantley isn't the answer, then pass the torch to the next guy.
8) We'll know that the new system isn't working if the offense stalls against Furman or Florida Atlantic...
Last year with Brantley new at the helm in the opener he and the offense struggled mightily against what I thought was one of the poorer MAC teams......Miami of Ohio.......( turned out they were the 2010 MAC Champion however....). In any event....I knew from the outset....from that game that UF was doomed for some degree of ugliness in 2010 because of the inept offense and I was dead-on accurate. From what I hear Brantley has completed 70% of his passes this spring....which is pretty good. I am not a believer in a game time John Brantley until I see him operate with success in a real game. In his defense on Sat. the O-line had several starters sitting out as well as Jeffrey Demps unavailable as well. The UF defense is going to be very strong this year as well so the 1st team D is going to be hard for anyone to have success against. Still......I'll not tout UF's potential on offense or potential for a great season until I have seen JB do it for myself. I don't trust him at this point.
