I have wondered for sometime what's actually going on in the nether regions but coughed while laying in bed the other day and found out that ouch this is not going away. Meanwhile as a farmer it's the busiest time of my season as we approach the apex of our peach season which involves lots of pulling and lifting as we load trucks heading towards grocery chains. Damn thing hurts and has ached me since coughing 24 hours ago and if I make the wrong move it's as if you kicked me in the crotch and I am on the verge of getting sick... Going to the doctors tomorrow to start the next process but it's terrible timing...Kinda pisses me off to be honest
I haven't Ralph, so I can only offer you words of encouragement. My Dad has had one for over a year, and keeps putting it off. He's not overly active anymore, so I guess he doesn't find it that big of a problem. I suspect they probably scope it just like most other things these days so hopefully your recovery is short and easy.
Done as out patient..I had a double hernia repair40 years ago..still holding up. Main thing as I remember....getup as soon as you get home and start walking..i didnt..remained in bed and that made it difficult.
Thank you gentleman for the advice and I appreciate you sharing your experience jif, I hear you on getting up and walking. I will make sure I do that once I have the procedure.
Follow the lifting restrictions your doctor places on you post surgery. The success rate of hernia surgeries are far, far better than they were years ago but try not to overdue it when you are on the mend.
Thank you Bobda, I was "officially" verified on Wednesday with a hernia and now have to find a general surgeon to do the procedure. We called our normal guy but unfortunately he no longer carries UHC. But we will find some witch doctor I'm positive... Since I work in a very active work environment where physical is part of the job (even as the manager) I need to really change my practice of helping my employee's with picking up and moving things. My wife would attest I've gotten pretty good at this at the homestead but I find her comments shocking...
LOL! Remember to show your better half that the doctor's restrictions explicitly forbid you from pulling!
Bobda if you observe closely he's been married more than ten years, you can tell by the arch in his back. After 30 years the family dog similar to Lloyd is the one holding the reigns...
I've had it. Sorry, I guess I'm late to this party. Part of my abdominal wall never totally sealed and it led to a hernia right under the belly button. It was an outpatient deal, but it took me about a week to be functional due to the staples in my stomach.
Eeehhh, thanks for sharing Corey, I found a surgeon who takes our insurance and go next Thursday for the evaluation. It's what it is, what can you do, I have abused my body for many years from a physical sense that it's not surprising. It just makes me feel old and I find I am having issues with this at the moment as I have been the one who could outwork and outlift others, of course I look in the mirror and realize my dad somehow has popped into the picture... Speaking of my father he shared that he had a double hernia. As a policeman his chair ( of all things) collapsed and he strained and ended up with a hernia. He had the surgery, and was on light duty for 15 weeks in that era. He was the complaint sergeant while on light duty and said it was killing him sitting in the office so he asked his supervisor if he could just hop in a squad car and ride around for a while. He said yes but absolutely nothing physical. He said he made the block and here was this guy beating the crap out of his wife so he tried to break it up. He ended up on the ground with both the husband and the wife kicking the crap out of him and the guy kicked him right in the area where he was operated on and he had to have surgery again..... After hearing that I guess it could always be worse and being a cop can be a very shitty job at times....
I have an umbilical hernia like Corey described. My surgeon just says to leave it unless it gets bothersome or incarcerated. Annoying though. My wife developed a femoral hernia years ago...from shoveling snow. She was pretty uncomfortable for a couple weeks after the surgery. Hey! Somebody's got to shovel that stuff! 8)
