Here's another article about Urban Meyer from Gator Country. It doesn't appear to be an article from the premium site so every one should be able to link.

In case you all don't know, I'm a major fan of this guy, and not just because he wins. But that does help.

    More Urban

Geez, I thought this might get some more comments.

But you know what I'm really gratified by all the action on Skybox the last couple of weeks.

    Have a nice weekend all.

"Meyer is 60-12 as a head coach, 21-4 in two not quite complete seasons at the University of Florida. In previous stops at Bowling Green and Utah, Meyer did the unthinkable which was win bigger and better than they could have imagined. At Bowling Green he proved that you can win big even if you don't have any cash and your facilities are rotten. At Utah he showed that even at a basketball school you can dream big dreams and soar high into the atmosphere with college football's eagles. At Florida where the expectations were already through the roof, he has taken the Gators to the national championship game in his second year.

At both Bowling Green and Utah, year two was significantly better than year one and that pattern, etc."

Gator fans all over should thank Foley and Machen for bringing this guy in.
Recruiting this year is looking very strong again and Meyer is in the middle of building a USC/Carroll type dynasty IMHO.

Don't hit that kool-aid too hard there boys.....let's not overstate the case for the job Urban did at BG. They've played good football at BG for decades - albeit not every year. BG had success before Meyer got there and after he left.....if not mistaken they went to a couple bowl games in the 80's and 90's and were a perennial MAC power since its inception in the early 60's. The guy is doing a great job on his own body of work....no reason to make it a work of fiction.

Plus I'm not all that sure that the facilities there are all that "rotten."

    No, not at all...

You originally posted an article praising your coach from a Gator site (yawn).

We all agree he's a great coach, so what's to say? If you want reaction you have to post something contraversial (I was going to post an article saying that Troy Smith deserved the Heisman...but couldn't find any  ).

Then you complained (kind of) about "no reaction"...so we re-read the article and noticed that Bowling Green was getting "dissed".

Holiday Cheers to you, and your admiration of Urban Meyer is well-placed.

BG 2 years after UM left - 20-6

BG 1991-1992 21-3 and 2-0 in bowl games.

The Kool-aid that suggests that BG never won before UM showed up and that nobody but UM could ever win at BG without "any cash and your facilities are rotten."

Listen fellas, the guy has done very well in his still young career as a head coach. He is on every list as one of the great young guns.....that's a given. There is no need to embellish an already excellent record beyond the bounds of credibility.

There were others before Meyer that were as successful if not more at BG without "cash" and with the same "rotten facilities". He did not do the "unthinkable which was win bigger and better than they could have imagined" at BG primarily because they had done it before....on several occasions. He's an outstanding young coach but he is not the Messiah and he did not lead BG out of bondage.....

    That kool-aid.

In the two years immediately following Meyer at BG the record was pretty good. In the last two years, (years 3 and 4 removed from UM) Bowling Green has gone 10-13.

Couple that with the 19-36 record in the 5 years before he got there and I see an impact made by Meyer at Bowling Green.

In and of itself that may not impress you BT but in combination with the very evident positive impact he made at Utah and Florida I don't see why you are so reluctant to give him credit for a turnaround at BG.

Heck in '95 thru '97 John Cooper went 32-6 at Ohio State but he was a bum and got fired for it (according to OSU fans anyway). Now the savior Tressel is in command and OSU fans give him all the credit and not too many have fond memories of Coop.
Imagine the diety status Tressel would have if Cooper went 19-36 in the 5 years before he was fired.

MCG, I'm just waving the bullsh!t flag here alright. The quote as stated above is just crap.....what he did at BG was not unthinkable. They had attained higher heights and realized that and more prior to his arrival over the course their football history. So how in the he!! could it have unthinkable or better than they could have imagined....that is just crap.

Re: Tressel and Coop - no doubt we are in a better place than during Coop's watch and Tressel is acknowledged by virtually all to be among the best of the best. That said, if some nitwit publishes an article and says that Tressel did the unthinkable and win bigger and better than they could have imagined at Ohio State, I'll wave the bullsh!t flag on that crap as well.....

MCG, I know he can jump but don't try and convince people he can leap tall buildings in a single bound. People will tend not to listen to you......

Nice that Urban and Tressel have the next 5 weeks to scheme against each other.

Hard to do that when I'm quickly losing mine.

How do you have a rational discussion with a guy who compares Tressel (5 national championships) to Cooper (What...2-9-1 against Michigan and about the same in bowl games...losing most of his even minor bowls.)

You're either an idiot or you're pulling our chain...I believe the latter.

Terry is not denigrating in any way the FINE job that Urban Myer did at Bowling Green...another of several great coaches that they have had...their record improved after he got there and so far has gone down after he left...but the author of that article is a moron to try to describe it as some backwater rotten hopeless place to win...that is our ONLY point...you'd think that just once you could...oh, never mind...

Maybe MCG is doing some chain yanking as well! Could be? I think so!
