Why is it that these days I absolutely dread opening the mail and it is getting worse by the day.

Sometimes I don't even open the mail because of the grief and worry I know it will cause me and maybe a sleepless night. From credit card companies arbitrarily raising my effing rates for no effing reason to the cell phone company suddenly jacking up the charges hundreds of dollars because of a plan change they conveniently didn't explain too well to my wife..And the thing with either one is you have to bend over and take it because one feeds the other....if you refuse to pay the cell phone co. because they are effing you then the credit card companies are standing by licking their effing chops because they know you are like fresh meat if the phone co. were to put a collection/credit issue on your credit report.

I am tired....sick and tired of all of this ********

Tonight it was a seemingly innocuous letter from Blue Cross of Florida.

My wife had to wait 45 days or so with her new job before we could be eligible for the coverage to be effective with her company's family plan and when we made that date ( Dec. 1st ) after sweating it out for weeks I felt pretty damned good about our coverage at least from a catastrophic standpoint.

Today I received this letter that says until they get a "certificate of credible coverage" we will not be covered for pre-existing conditions until Nov. 10th provided we have not had a 63 day lapse of coverage,

So....what the hell does that mean and why am I just now hearing from Blue Cross on this? Did we go past 63 days from her last job to this job because of the eligibility delay? I had family coverage with same company for 23 effing years before I was laid effing off but within a month we switched to my wife's coverage so no 63 days there but I don't know for sure on this last move she made.

This country is in the effing toilet..

Sorry for the rant boys it's just that I get tired of every one out there always trying to get in my wallet every chance they get.

The zeal shown by all concerned makes me think the greedy are having to make way for the desperate.

    Ask for help, get help:

    1. T-Mobile is kicking both AT&T and Verizon's ass when it comes to rates alone. Mix in the fact that, if you live in a Metro area, you can get a smart phone (or whole family of em) for a very reasonable rate... 3g coverage, unlimited internet etc. You might want to check into that.

    2. Contact your previous health insurance carrier for that letter. They are standard form. Contact BCBSFL and inform them of THEIR delay in notification. (Did she have COBRA coverage or anything in the time in between?) Inform them that once you receive that letter you will be mailing the credcov letter to them via registered mail and ask them for a specific recipient.

    3. If you think there is red tape now, wait until the government handles our insurance. You'll be dying for the 'good old days' where companies just effed with you.

I have already requested the COBRA letter from my previous insurer.

As I looked into this more I am more hopeful that it won't be as big of an ominous deal as they make it sound with the pre-existing exclusion letter they sent.

    Thanks for the tips.

it seems daunting, but it's more of a pain in the ass.

Sorry to hear you're going through with this.

I have currently got about a 10k dr bill from that surgery thing I had a few years ago. My company not only fired me the day before the surgery (btw, its fact they did so because they were avoiding the surgery on their insurance. They'd already had several heart surgeries, and a few terminal cancer cases).. Then they NEVER sent me the COBRA paperwork.

People will tell you that it is a big deal.. 'People don't wanna mess with the Fed'... The reality is.. you can, especially if you have the legal team Walgreens does.. About 5 certified letters later, and at least 2+ years later, I still haven't received that COBRA paperwork..

Now I gotta surgery in collections all because I was unable to file for Cobra... You call COBRA, they tell you to call the employer.. You call them, they tell you they sent it... (to Mars I assume, I had 1 address and 1 phone # the entire time I worked there)... You can get screwed, but for most folks.. you can get this done. It's just a pain. I feel for ya on this.

Damn Corey....that is just so wrong in so many ways.

Kinda illustrates what I have been saying is going on in this country.

That is just ********. Sorry you had to go through that.

Probably means you don't get coverage until Nov. for pre-existing unless you had coverage when she got employed (COBRA)...so you should be ok assuming you did have the COBRA coverage.

    Hope it works out.

    Dave,

Its ok, thanks though. The funny thing is whenever people threaten to sue me, I'm like... 'sweet, see ya in court!' no way anyone looks at the cards i am holding and wants any piece of that action.. Of course, then they say 'we'll never take you to court, we'll just destroy your credit for the next 10 years!!'

I laugh and ask them if they've ever met my ex-wife because they are waaaaay behind her if they're going to try to play that game.

Oh my story gets better and better, but I will spare you. Let's just say, if you fight the system... the system won't just fight back... they'll ass rape ya. They can't take your dignity though.. Just keep your head up.
