I was.kind of surprised that not one of Alabama's wide receivers was a consensus All-American. They had 4 to choose from. Maybe that was the problem.
Dylan Moses (Alabama Inside Linebacker) who tore an ACL in preseason says he is coming back for his senior year. Good news for our defense. He was one of two starters we lost at that position this past season.
I read an article quoting Saban that said Alabama only had 1 player receive a top 15 1st round rating (it was Tua), so a lot of them are expected to come back. The following comments from Bama fans were pretty funny, but I thought that info was surprising.
if they go, they go. I'm not sure about Tua going but I think he should. If he is going to be top 15 then there is no reason to stay unless he is just having a good time. Some of these guys just may not improve their position by staying another year, who knows?
I've never forgotten what Bear Bryant said to the media after getting beaten by Georgia 17-18 on a last second flea-flicker play in 1965.......................that the still photograph in the Sunday morning newspaper clearly showed that the Georgia receiver's knee was on the ground before he pitched the ball. "You win ballgames on Saturdays, not Sundays" Interesting?
I just saw a USA Today NFL mock draft that had 8 Alabama players picked in the first round. Who knows if it will happen?
The pros know better than anyone a player's potential. Rarely do college AA teams reflect a consensus for every player named. Depending on who's doing the selecting, it can be a beauty contest. Of course, it's always true that some AA selections are no-brainers.
Not too unusual for the most photographed & news worthy players not to last over a couple of years as well. It's a tough game and only those with a lot of grit and patience make the grade.
Saban was quoting his NFL sources, I'd take that over USA Today. Still, that just means all those guys will return to Alabama and they'll be loaded for Bear once again.
