Well I'm off to work and then off to Titus to meet up with my daughter and then tomorrow morning we are off to Tuscaloosa. I got an email last summer from Alabama ticket office saying Miss. St. tickets were available for $75 apiece. Little did I know then that it would be one of the biggest games of the season. Anyway I will not be online much for the next 2 days but this should be fun. Alabama has been playing lights out at home and I hope it continues. I still believe Alabama's pass defense is not good enough to keep us in the game if MSU's offense is clicking. Anyway, I just wanted to weigh in on the game and if you decide to watch this one look for me up in the nosebleed seats in the south endzone. 8)

Have a great time at the game KP and a better time hanging out with your daughter. It's funny because I literally turned down tickets to this game twice before the season from 2 different sources and now I can't find any that are available locally.

I'm pretty sure these 2 teams are gonna keep hitting each other in the mouth until the other one doesn't get up. This should be for all the (regular season) marbles.

Just the atmosphere will be fun. And like I said before, Alabama is well into the championship playoff and it is win and move on mode. Anyway, it really doesn't get much better than this. This is what I really love about college football. Denny Chimes, the Quad, Walk of Champions. :D :D :D

BTW, stay warm. I thought about inviting you to the game this week but saw you were going to Ttown.. I froze my ass off last night. 25 degrees, that freezing cold coupled with the humidity that sticks to you and toss in a cutting wind that lasted the entire night... Good grief it was miserable.

Decatur hosts the state's real #1 team (not Hoover) next week if you're interested. The state's all-time scoring record holder vs a defense that has not given up a TD in the playoffs.

In the meantime, we expect a trip report.. :)

Well, it was great day with my daughter. Has anyone ever been to a game with Game Day there? You can't see squat in person. If you don't have sign you might as stand in a crowded elevator. The atmosphere was terrific and the weather was not beautiful. Mid 50's, blue sky, no wind although it did get a little chilly after the sun went down but still no wind and mid 40's.

Now to the game- We won and of course I am tickled, but if you look at the box score, we came out second in just about every category...except turnovers. Prescott threw 3 INTs. Sims did a good job of running for a couple of key first downs and NOT turning the ball over.

Don, our defense did well, I will grant you that but MSU was driving on each of those interceptions. We were not stopping them. I know it sounds like hair shirt type of stuff but Alabama needs an explosive offense, if we have this type of defense and we just don't consistently have an explosive offense.

Having said all of that, I was extremely happy to be able to attend an Alabama game where we defeated the Number 1 team in the country. :D :D :D :D

    KP,

Congrats and thanks for reporting back in.

I've been to 2 Game Day games in Tuscaloosa but they were all before 'the game' with LSU a few years ago. From what I understand, they are far crazier now than they were then. It was pretty damned crazy then.

    Corey,
They are not Baton Rouge crazy. If you go to a game in Baton Rouge, it can be dangerous. In Tuscaloosa, it is good bbq, beautiful ladies and elaborate tailgating, and a lot of people. It is like a carnival in some senses built around a lot of good football. 8)

    re: Game Day

I've been to one Game Day. It was at the Rose Bowl for a Pac10 game between UCLA and Oregon. Dave Francis and I walked right up next to Herbie and Corso without much trouble. The Duckie fans were all stoned at the tailgates, blowing their duck calls, while the UCLA fans didn't pay much attention. I guess they're used to seeing celebrities on the west side...

BTW- Congratz on the adventure with your daughter. On a day when nearly everyone was screwing the pooch......Bama did not screw the pooch...

    KP,

Oh I'm familiar with our Cajun neighbors to the west. You are correct, the game day atmosphere in Tuscaloosa is wonderful and rowdy (in a good way). I've been in T'town on game day with the UCLA Alumni Association and to a person they raved about the Alabama experience. I've been to an Iron Bowl with Auburn fans and I really found it remarkable about how wonderful the Alabama fans were...even to Barners.

It should be noted, I was treated like absolute **** at Auburn by Auburn fans for wearing ND gear. ND wasn't playing Auburn. I was just there with my toddler and took verbal abuse constantly.

My experiences away from the campus game day settings is where those roles flips... but I'd recommend T'town to anyone on game day.

As for the Cajuns.. their food is amazing. their beer is better than average...but their fans will fight you after the game if things don't go their way..so long as you go prepared to take everything they love, you're ready for game day against LSU :)
