Doesn't Auburn know they are a 10 point underdog? That was an impressive first drive for Auburn. I don't understand why Bama didn't challenge the ruling of the incomplete pass on 3rd down. It looked pretty good to me.
Onsides kick - with a 7 point lead - with 11:40 left in the first quarter - and it worked!!! Auburn has come to this game willing to do anything to win! I have no doubt that Alabama will wake up and make them pay for plays like that but to this point, is hasn't happened.
The announcers just mentioned the complex formations that Auburn is using has taken Alabama by surprise. The irony of this is: History of the Iron Bowl
If Alabama goes on to win this game, you might say that there alarm clock was set for 2:23 left in the first quarter. That is when they got their first 1st down of the game after Auburn had gone up by 14 - 0. Bama does score on that drive to draw within 7 in the first minutes of the 2nd qtr.
Nobody can say that Auburn didn't play their best. Congrats to Bama for pulling it out. I predicted a 3 point game: 24 to 21 I think. 26 to 21 was not too far off.
Man........ <t>What an effort by Auburn. Bama put together a great drive to win it. SEC football is fun to watch.</t>
We visited friends here in Jacksonville and arrived as Alabama tied the game at 14 in the first half then watched the rest. Auburn sure gave Alabama all they could handle. But I'm glad Alabama won, now Florida needs to do their part tomorrow and insures that the winner of Alabama - Florida goes to the BCS Championship. We just got back and turned on the basketball game, the Gators lead Mich State at halftime 38 - 36. I'm going to get watch the second half.
I had given up on Alabama on this one. The last drive was the clincher for sure. Bill, Congrats on that win over Michigan State last night. Don
Thanks Don, it was a great win for our BB team for sure. I never gave up on Bama and expected they would do exactly what they did, except for the pass instead of a run and settling for the field goal.
Bama offense is terrible, I know Auburn was probably geeked out of their mind and all that....but still. Also if Ingram can't go next week, it may not score a point.
Terry, Some of that is called "d-e-f-e-n-s-e". I thought some Texas fans may have forgotten how to spell it. Alabama did score 26 points, and they had to pass to do it.
Defense? We have an Auburn DCoord!! Seriously though, McElroy has been pedestrian as a QB after an outstanding start. I don't know why he regressed he came from a great HS program in Texas. But if it wasn't for Ingram you guys wouldn't be undefeated and it looks like he's doubtful for the SECCG, I sure wouldn't want to go to that game and depend on my passing game vs the Gators. I think Alabama has one of the top defenses in the country, but I'm not sure they are up to carrying the team without some consistency on offense against a team like UF.
I disagree. Trent Richardson is just as good as Ingram and all year the combination of the both of them has been pretty good. Also yesterday, McElroy completed 67% of his passes for 218 yds, 2 TDs, 0 ints. I know those are not Tebow or McCoy or Clausen numbers but not too bad.
KP is correct... BTW- I was in a mall for the last 2 min of the Iron Bowl... what an interesting social study that is/was. Has anyone seen the Twilight Zone episode where time stands still?
Tebow and McCoy play on teams with great defenses. Same with McElroy. As they say, defense wins championships.
Yup, having said all of the above, and while our offense is more effective than last year our defense has to stop Florida for us to have a chance. We cannot keep up in a 49-39 type game. If we can't contain Tebow and their tight end then it will be a long night for Alabama. On the other hand McElroy and our wide receivers have to be in synch. No doubt, Alabama will have play their best game of the year to win. Hey this is what these teams play for, I hope they relish the opportunity. Roll Tide.
