a.k.a. Buck Fama  week by a bunch of my closest drunken hillbilly friends! Sorry KP! 8) This is the Tuesday before the Bama game. Wednesday practice will be hard hitting but I thought that if the reports were true, Phil would have made his announcement yesterday. So, either the reports were false about his retirement or he has changed his mind, or he is waiting until closer to game day. I have already made my thoughts on this game public. I think that Tennessee will not suffer an embarrassing loss, but we will lose a close game. EB and the Defense have improved with age. That will be our saving grace. The offense has made progress, just not enough in my opinion. Fama pulls out the close victory 30 - 27
I can't pick Tennessee in this one. But Alabama lost one of their best Defensive linemen for several games, that may help.
Bill, I have correctly advised you to bet against Tennessee several weeks but you didn't listen. :? This week, I couldn't give you advice that I believe in because I think it will be that close. With the contest so close, I will be making my best guess just before the game. I may change the pick I have already made or it may remain as is.
Hey Phil is on a 1 game winning streak, why quit when you are ahead!! Bama's loss of Cody is huge!! On a serious note, I do think this will be a close game. I will have to see the point spread before I can make a choice, but if it is 10 or more I'm going to take Tenn.
I wonder if Jimmy Clausens family still has a place in Knoxville? Do either of his brothers still live in Knoxville or have jobs with the Vols?? Golden Tate is from Hendersonville, is that close to Knoxville?
I can't wait for this game. It's hard to relay to folks not close to it. But for as crazy as the Iron Bowl is, I still feel (and I am sure many UT/Bama fans would agree) that this is their most bitter rivalry.. And by bitter, I mean... if either of these states had an army, the invasion would have taken place a long time ago.
Hah!!! You must have not heard of the Toledo War then!! Michigan came this close to invading Ohio!! Of course to this day Michigan conducts cross border incursions into Norhern Ohio, taking hostages of the young men of the villages to play football.
Hendersonville is just outside of Nashville. Been there many times. That place is home to many country music people. Conway Twitty has a place called Twitty City in Hendersonville. Johnny Cash's home on Old Hickory lake was in Hendersonville.
It says that it could be written yesterday. 10 years ago, it was always the 3rd Saturday. Now, 2nd or 4th is also common. This year, it is the 4th.
I'm back from travel. If Alabama plays the 2nd half like they have been playing the 1st half so far, Tennessee is in trouble. On the other hand if it is a close game at the half, Alabama is in trouble. Corey is right though, the Auburn rivalry is with family, this one is like Hatfield and McCoys. Especially in the last 6 years or so. Of course that is mostly amongst the fans, I don't think Saban gets involved in rivalries. It's not part of the process.
For some reason I feel good about Tennessee's chances in this game. Then again, I felt good about Tennessee's chances for this season too. Right now, I'm gonna call for the upset especially with Cody being out for 'Bama. I like the intangibles in Tennessee's favor.
Aquila, If you are right, I'll still be smashed at 7am Monday morning when I am scheduled to teach a class. ... and I haven't been smashed in a good 16 years! I know quite a few Texas fans that are pulling for us as well! My heart said all of the above. My head says that Bama's position in the polls is secure.
