The mutual waivers are the sign that this is a done deal. No lawsuits... pretty much everything has been ironed out. Terry I guess you believe all the crap ESPN is spewing that this is all about pride and the LHN? It's not. It's one thing to "take care of number one" but your school makes it an art form - at the very obvious expense of their "conference brothers". It's about taking control of our situation, and stability in the future. It's about being true PARTNERS. The XII is a house of cards that is going to fall. It's not if, it's just when. Better to find a nice place to land now on our own terms. And for those who think A&M isn't much of an "Add" for the SEC, I suggest you look at our entire athletic department. Football is finally back to competitive again after the Fran debacle, but that's not all we're bringing along. A VERY good basketball program (6 dance trips in a row for the men and the NC for the girls speaks for itself) that is only getting better. Baseball is very good (CWS trip this year) Softball reached WCWS final two years ago. Track... 6 team NC's in the last 3 years is just about as dominant as it gets. Men's golf won an NC two years ago... Tennis is very good, and our women's soccer is very good as well. This is no patsy AD coming aboard. It won't be easy for us, but it won't be easy for the teams we're joining either. I look forward to the competition.
While I get and will miss the tradition... Watching Texas boo hoo over this is like watching Ike Turner tell Tina that she's about to throw away true love.
8) I think Texas and Oklahoma should join the 12Pac. They'll be taken to school by real evil empires like USC and Arizona State...they learn the meaning of poor sportsmanship from Stanford and UCLA...they'll discover creative officiating in the great northwest at Oregon and Washington... Come on down!
If this happens I guess the SEC has to add another as well, unless Arkansas leaves then it would be a one for one swap? Arkansas hasn't really been in the SEC to build up a lot of traditional type rivalries so that wouldn't be so bad in the end. :?
I don't see how it is in Arkansas's interest to go to the Big 12. They caused the breakup of the SWC when they bolted for the SEC in the 90's. Going back doesn't make a lot of sense to me and the Big 12 is pretty unstable at this point. Here's another take on the situation. This Aggie joke is on the Longhorns
Bye Bye....I'm sorry it has come to this but now that it's pretty much done, lets get them out ASAP and I don't really care if we ever play them again in any sport.
I doubt that we will actually not play one another, Texas and Texas A&M fans feel that way for the most part. But I am imagining that the AD's looking at the big $$$ that a year ending grudge match will bring in terms of full stadiums, big TV dollars etc will result in football rivalry continuing, the minor sports nobody really cares about any way.
Terry...Go to the Big 10. The marriage of BAPP with cheese curds, American Spoon jellies, and Spotted Cow beer is one made in Heaven.
On a serious note I have no doubt that the new Pac12 media setup is ideal for the Longhorn Network to be folded into. Pac 16 with the Pac-East being Texas, Texas Tech, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Arizona and Arizona State, Colorado and Utah, would make a lot of sense.
Why would I, as a P12 school alum, want to buy into the deal Texas is trying to shove down the rest of their conferences throats? Come even or stay on your own. THAT was what brought down the conference of tu, not the "arrogance" of the three that left.
I have to agree. Does the rest of the conference share any of the revenue from the Longhorn Network? If not, why would the members of any conference want to have to recruit against that? It sounds like Texas is finally going to get its independence after all. Maybe that's what they want.
Your current media setup is broken into regional networks, the LHN would be another regional network. Pac12 Networks Can you see how this could work?
Aggies send letter to B12 saying they are going to explore joining another conference and expect to be done with the B12 by june 30th 2012. War Hymn written more than 100 years ago...very prophetic. Good bye to texas university So long to the orange and the white Good luck to dear old Texas Aggies They are the boys who show the real old fight "the eyes of Texas are upon you" That is the song they sing so well So good bye to texas university We're gonna beat you all to… Chigaroogarem, Chigaroogarem Rough, Tough, Real stuff, Texas A&M
