It seems there is a big split in Aggie country over this hire, but I think it's a good move.

If for nothing else, because he throttled the Tech spread in the Cotton Bowl a few years ago!!

    kp, any thoughts??

Not a bad hire, Joe certainly been around and he's had some great defenses.

I am surprised though, Kirk Bohls wrote in the Statesman that Davie to A&M was 75% done, just some contract details. Davie himself was coy when quoted in an interview, saying that anything had to come from Mike Sherman. I mean why would you say that if you weren't a interested in taking the job. If he was interested and Sherman was talking to him I wonder what happened that he didn't take the job. Sherman certainly didn't need the cover that he was really working with Joe Kines that a Davie distraction might provide.

Scott must have insider information, so far I'm not seeing anything on Joe Kines to A&M. There is talk about it over on AgTimes but no announcement anywhere.

Here's Bob Davie from 2006 on Joe:

I also saw a YouTube clip of a halftime interview of Joe...damn he's older looking than dirt!! :)

    It hasn't been announced yet.

My "guy" is usually right on these things (90%) so we'll see if he got this one.

    Scott,
Kines is a good coach and he is a real character. Some folks (not a whole lot though) wanted him to get the HC job at Alabama when Shula was let go.
