This from Gatorsports: http://forum.gatorsports.com/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=24152 Man I get sick of these ACC refs and their bias. 12 penalties to 2 for FSU and the first one on FSU not called until the 4th quarter. Then there was the pass interefernce on UF when the FSU WR pushed the UF defender in the back and he actually went down. What in the hell was that? And why in the hell do these kinds of crews think that no one's watching?
Dave, I was not happy with some of the calls in the 3rd quarter, however if you watched closely most of them were easy to see. But what you overlook is that in the 4th quarter when we rallied to win we did not have many calls against us. If they were truly biased as you are saying don't you think there would have been more calls at critical times in the 4th quarter? Why can't you just relax and enjoy the ride instead of looking for trouble?
Terry, a number of years ago during the Zook era when the Swindle in the Swamp took place with so many bad calls by ACC refs cost us the game our AD made the decision that ACC refs would not referee in the Swamp again so we went back to the home team conference furnishing the refs. And since that time I have seen much better games called by ACC refs. I was upset at a couple of calls yesterday but in the 4th quarter there was nothing to be upset about and actually most of the time when fans get upset but the camera zero's in on what happened it was a good call. There was an interference call and a pass that was overturned that I thought was questionable but it is what it is.
Terry good thing you don't see me sometimes during the game when I am yelling at the refs. But I usually get over it.
Bill, if you are not replacing remotes and/or television screens, you are not throwing fits during the game!
As a whole, I thought the refs called a pretty decent game. In fact, I only saw one horrible call, and that was the PI that should have been offensive against FSU. As usual there were some missed calls, but they weren't egregious and didn't seem biased against either side. The third quarter WAS a huge penalty quarter against the gators, but almost all of them were GOTTA call it penalties, like personal fouls.
Saw a lot of holding being done by the FSU OL on our pass rushers and yet only Florida was called for it. On the PF FSU looked to twice push our guys and one of ours meekly responded so we get the PF.... instead of offsetting. It seems in this series when there is an obvious slant by the refs that could change the outcome of the game it's always the ACC crew in favor of FSU...... and it gets old having to watch that crap.
Kes... You joining the upcoming hate thread on my page? Championship week should be fun and since I am not worried about jinxing ND, things will probably be a thousand times worse..and by worse, I mean funny. This week was rather tame with people stuck with all the holiday/black Friday/family obligation stuff..
CoCo - If I'm around and have time to actually sit and watch the games with the PC in front of me and the phone in my hand, absolutely.
Kes, Wonderful! It was fantastic having some Pac10 representation and west coast flavor. There are different people who rotate in and out. It's the holidays and all. It's too busy over on Spencer's gig at SBNation to keep it intimate and fun. It was a shame my buddy Brad couldn't be there last week. He's a budding rock star, but the problem with that is that it doesn't pay the bills. He took a retail manager gig at some place (Old Navy or something) so he was pretty much out last week, but was peeking on the phone when he could. His previous paying job was as a sound engineer for the Finebaum Show down in B'ham. He won't admit it, but I know he regrets giving that up in his pursuit of music. Klink will hopefully be back from FL, although with the Tide playing Georgia there's a small chance of him being sober or coherent. Since coming up with the idea of having a weekly meetup/hate thread on my page, there's really only been one complaint and that was from this very sweet lady who follows me who objected to my suggestion that Colin Klein was conceived at a Tijuana donkey show. I explained it all to her and now she understands, she'll chime in with real football talk which is always welcome. My sister does the same. I don't think they 'get' the whole combination of humor/sports talk in one stream, but they will.. they keep watching at least. I still can't believe it took me that long to figure out the ref looked like Lou Diamond Phillips.
Just my Facebook page. Not the company one which is effectively my 'dummy' page that I don't really use. It's my personal Facebook page, the one I actually use. I have all the privacy settings on lockdown so unless you follow me, you can't see what's on the page. This way, people can say/do whatever the hell they want on there without worrying about upsetting grandma, or their employer or insert sensitive family member here... You should be on there. I'll check. If you're on the other one, I'll add you with my real one so you can participate or watch the juvenile insanity. Saturday's thread was 181 comments long and that was a slow week. Some just like the thread or 'follow it' without participating, they just enjoy the banter. It's also a great way to keep up with what's going on as we're all usually watching or flipping to different games.
Terry, request sent.. to make it easier for anyone else it's this: https://www.facebook.com/oconnor.corey
I enjoyed it. I pretty much used it as a place to document my steam of consciousness andobservations. Nothing profound, but something I've missed without having local friends with whom to watch the games.
