'still impressed with Penn State' and pointing out that 'they always slip up that one time'. Those were the last 2 quotes by Craig James and Doug "I Smoke the" Flutie. How you guys continue to buy into the legitimacy of this travashamockracy is beyond me.. Even if Penn State comes back to win, there is nothing that has taken place to this point that gives any credibility to those two above statements. This system is a media machine joke... I'm going to get some pizza and play catch with my boy. I will bbl. BTW-AJ, great win for your Huskers again today. Glad to see the BRT back on track.
Let's not forget Brent Cheeseburger who tonight is a big Pac 10 apologist politicing for SC to be in the NC game.
For many years I have been able to tune out Musberger.....He's been white noise to me since the mid 80s. Tonight the old Brent came back to get under my skin, falling to his knees in front of the Trojan horse. I liked Penn State's second half play-for-pride "comeback", which reduced USC from a great team to "just" a very, very good team and somewhat shut down Musberger's rant. Like that great philosopher Keyshawn Johnson said, they would be a great team.....except for Oregon State. Texas would be a great team.....except for TT. Florida would be a great team.....except for Mississippi.....etc., etc. I love the fact that all USC can do is claim that they got screwed. Music to my ears.
I have always favored the bowl system but I think I'm starting to see the light on this playoff thing. At the very least, I think the best compromise would be to have an additional BCS rankings after the bowl games are played (with traditional matchups with provisions for the "little guy" to get some good matchups) and then decide the championship game from there.
Corey, I wasn't talking about the final game. My point was how carelessly some folks use the term "great." IMO the first and foremost qualifier to be called great is to go undefeated. Then you go from there. Among the top teams this year, there were several very good teams but no "great" teams, regardless of what the USC folks think of themselves (referring to Carroll's comment to his team that they are a great team, as reported by the ABC crew).
