since your other father didn't post this yesterday . We went to our granddaughter graduation from Dominican University in San Rafael on Saturday the commencement speaker was the most amazing woman We were wondering if you had heard of her Major General Angela Salinas. She graduated from Dominican in 1976 , Jim even woke up to listen to her speak ... She joined the Marines her 2nd year did boot camp then finished school Apparently there were also new Navy women at the school who gave her a bad time She confided to one of the sisters who taught there, this Sister told her next time they did that she should tell them she personally knows and is friends with Admiral Neimietz's daughter... Woke Jim up.. the sister had passed away recently.. but Jim would have loved to met her and had a conversation with her.. Anyway "Angie" as they referred to her had a lot of amazing things to say to the graduates..... ps She started the Basketball program at the University she was quite the amazing person.
Yes, I have heard of her.....she was the first women to command a male recruit depot (MCRD San Diego)....but unfortunately never met her..... She was Enlisted first...then went into a commisioning program.....anytime you pick up a star....you have to have your trash bagged tight.....she must have know what she was doing.... OOOOOHHHRRRAAAAHHHHHHHH!!! BTW, there's only been 1 Commandant of the Marine Corps that was former enlisted.....General Al Gray.....got punch in the chest by him one time.....he also did a cameo on the Major Dad show.....
