last night I attended the first ever night time game at Sewanee: The University of the South. They have a former Penn State/Paterno assistant who is trying to rebuild the program and inject some life in the old gal. He appears to be doing the job so far. Lots of excitement from the fans. It was family night. There were also several recruits there. While Sewanee may still be struggling on field, something I noticed was the that recruits were all much bigger than the players on the field. Carson interviewed again with all of the members of the staff and he carried himself quite well. I had to do a number of handshake greetings and I have to admit that it's weird being on the other side of that handshake for once.

As for the game, it's played at the oldest on campus football stadium in the South. The school reeks of old Southern money. There's people walking around before the game with their high pedigree dogs and their nose a bit in the air. Perhaps the most entertaining part of the evening was the march of the student body into the stadium. The parking lot already smelled like fine steak and bourbon. When the students marched in, they were led from 3 fraternities. One clad in kilts, another clad in robes, and another clad in ponchos. Then there was the rest of the student body behind them. They carried an American flag leading the way and were singing songs older than their grandparents. They ring the field and the first thing that immediately hits you is the stench of alcohol. Holy ****, you could have failed a breathalyzer just by waving a strip in their general direction.

I think Brittney thought I was kidding about their school cheer "rip em up, tear em up! Leave them in a lurch! Down with the heathens, up with the Church! Yea, Sewanee's, right!" Until the cheerleaders and students did it during the 1st quarter. From what I gather, the heathens were in reference to the Methodists at Vanderbilt.

It was all in all a good time. The campus is just a series of castles surrounded by 'The Doman' and all of it is breath taking. We'll take JOCO with us in a few weeks.

Well I CAN say that I am very informed on how many times I can stab a bear before death it seems....My next informative tidbit is how to make a brisket according to the picture segment..I'm going with making the brisket before the bear attack happens...imgur is ahead of its time on topics, I'll give it that..

Cool campus, did a little research on it and its Episcopal background and it's history, they have a bunch of land it seems....I wish your son only the best there and hope his parents a good ride along the way...I can say that as my son sure involved us whither he wanted to or not in his college years...

    Wow, very nice looking campus!

Corey... the Aggies play Georgia in 2019.
I can't help but notice that Decatur/Sewanee/Athens are not that terribly far apart.
If ya know what I mean?

Yeah I can get better pictures next time. Really the thing about Sewanee will come down to 'can we afford it' and/or finance it within reasonable means. We'll see what kind of money they come up for football/scholarships/aid etc.

There are still several other schools that want Carson to attend. One of them is the University of the Cumberlands, which has a wrestling team. The others are Troy, Memphis, South Alabama, Azusa Pacific, Southern Miss, Franklin Pierce and a few others that I can't remember right now.

    Scott,

Oh I get what ya mean amigo. That sounds like a good time. I wonder if I could wrangle up some tickets to that. My wife went to Georgia for a time, and I know a few alums. Dawg fans don't part with their tickets too easily.

I looked up the campus and it does reek of old school, looks drenched in traditional architecture very cool looking.

That cheer is so funny it's cool. Heathens at Vanderbilt! A lot of people don't know that So. Cal was once a Methodist School as well, they are truly heathens! :)
