    I still feel that Jimmy Clausen is the better passer and has better overall QB skills.

    That's where it ends. I'll forever remember these two by their last games and how they dealt with them.

    My vision of Clausen will be of him standing alone on the sideline, helmet off, mugging for the camera, trash talking a Stanford player knocked out of bounds near him. Of him yapping at the Stanford bench and Harbaugh between plays. Pre-emptively cleaning out his locker before a decision on a bowl trip had even been made yet.

    Then I'll remember Tebow, overcome by emotion and tears streaming down his face, his dream over. And yet he still was man enough and gracious enough to praise those who just vanquished him at the moment of his greatest disappointment.

    If character still counts for anything, hand Tebow the Heisman.

    Wow George, thank you. I didn't see Clausen at his last game so can't comment.

    But Tebow was, is and always will be a class act. Us Gators are going to miss him something awful.

    However he isn't going to win the Heisman, and may not even be on stage.

    I can live with that and I am sure he can also.

    Tebow

    <t>Hand Tebow the Heisman for being an average QB this season? Couldn't disagree with you more on this one George. <br/>
    <br/>
    The Heisman should go to the BEST college football player this season. Not the most likable.<br/>
    <br/>
    No matter what you think of Tebow, he wasn't the best colelge football player this year. <br/>
    <br/>
    As far as Clausen is concerned he he took cheap shots from opposing defensive players for three years and I think he handled it well.</t>

    George has a bur up his you know what over Clausen. Jimmy had a great career as a ND QB, on some bad teams. He was a terrific competitor. I'll miss him.

    George,

    I agree with everything you just posted except for the last line. Character does count but I don't know how much it counts in the Heisman race. Tim does define character with his actions, especially off the field.

    I have never had anything against Tim... except for his play against Tennessee. :? My only contention was with the media that acted as if they wanted to have his love child. That is not an indictment against him, but against the media that wanted to live off the sensation that Tim Tebow was, or is.

    Yeah, I can see how the emotions of ending a 6-6 season in a meaningless game are the same as losing a shot at the NC and maybe the Heisman.
    As to cleaning out his locker, he knew what the decision would be. Just like the Mich game, the UConn game, and the Stanford game, now matter what he did, the players who were supposed to protect the lead didn't show up. They're not going to show up in a bowl either.

    George, very well said about Tebow. That's why you are the Godfather.

    I disagree with your narrow depiction of Clausen (I guess if I had a burr up my butt like you do, I'd say those things), but you make a solid point about grace and sportsmanship in your comparison.

    Tim.....Let it go, please.

    Perhaps "leadership" extends to more than Weis, Gipper? How about field generalship? Commanding the respect of your team mates?

    Just maybe a lack of those things are what contributed to the last game being "meaningless"?

    Jimmy had great individual stats. Except for the 16-21. Not so great.

    Tough choice
    QB 1 20-35 247 yds 1 TD 1 int.
    QB 2 23-30 341 yds. 5 TD 0 int.

    Which one do you pick?
    Why, it's the one that cried at the end.

    If you only knew what I really <B><s></s>wanted <e></e></B>to say after the Florida Alabama game yesterday...well let's just say I've think I've done real well at keeping my mouth shut for the most part. I'm trying to stay civil here. Besides, I didn't start the topic. I know George doesn't seem to like Clausen but I don't feel we need to verbally abuse him especially when the QB he is comparing him to was more hype than performance <B><s></s>THIS<e></e></B> year. <br/>
    <br/>
    Perrsonally, I think I would vote for the Suh kid from Nebraska for the Heisman. That was an awesome game he put in yesterday!</r>

    Tim, the Suh kid would be a fine choice.

    That was the first time I had really watched him play a complete game this season. I had heard about him on some of the sports radio shows and he was being given a lot of praise. Man they were right about him! I'm assuming he played much the same in the earlier games this season<br/>
    <br/>
    Unfortunately for him as we all know, the Heisman is really an award for the best QB or RB only only on rare occasions is is given to anyone but those who play those positions.</t>

    I'm sorry but I have to respect a kid like Clausen who played with some of the worst OL's and stood in there and took sack after sack, but still got better every year and played injured after the late hit that wasn't called on the MSU LB and played with a lot of heart.

    He was pretty much a 1 man team during his career, lousy OL's no running game, no defense....gee I wonder why he was 16-21.

    Tebow had a great college career and is deserving of all the accolades that he receives. But that is no reason to throw Clausen under the bus.

    Very well said, Terry. I agree.

    We must be careful. You and I have disagreed with the Godfather.

    whoa whoa whoa there..

    While I actually think that Tebow is of the highest moral fiber and character...

    Tebow does a whole bunch of trash talking on the field.. Some of it I am sure is in response to something that was probably said earlier, and some of it appears to be 'Tim getting his competitive side up' but regardless... I've seen him do it a few times.

    That being said.. how about giving it to the guy who played huge in all their games and never let his team down.... Gerhart?

    Also, as others pointed out, Tebow had a much better 'ride' to handle the rocky road of a football season.. Tebow had a massive luxury SUV while Clausen rode the 3 legged donkey.

    All of the Tebow hate baffles me. Some of it may be a backlash against the over abundance of positive media stories or his very demonstrative religious views. Or it may be just another confirmation that it is human nature for those who muddle on in life to try and tear down those who possess qualities they lack.

    But, I have never read any story about Tebow bashing anybody in the media or claiming that he was going be a better NFL QB than a player at another school. All of the stories I have read about people who actually know him speak of him as a very special person.

    He is a great college football player who represented his school both on and off the field in manner I can only admire.

    Bobda,

    I was referring to his onfield trash talking...

    He's done plenty of it.. It doesn't make him a bad kid. I think he's a great kid.

    Bobda,

    I don't think there is any Tebow "hate". Envy maybe, hate no. Now I was very outspoken on disgust for the media drooling over him at every opportunity. Other players in the NCAA were worthy of praise and barely received a mention. Tebow was the topic of the announcers when a Pac-10 school was playing a Big-12. That is what turned me off during the season.

    TT and IC,

    I was making a general comment about the stuff I have read about Tebow pro and con in a variety of places including SB and not writing something in specific response to what you and Corey stated.

    Corey described him as having the highest moral fiber and character so I think those words would totally disqualify him from the hater's club. I can't recall anything you wrote, Tom, re Tebow that was unfair.

    I really don't remember but one instance where Tebow was trash talking and that was the championship game last year with Oklahoma when one of their players had been saying what he was going to do to Tebow. Late in the game Tebow did a Gator Chomp to him and drew a 15 yard penalty.

    Other than that I don't remember trash talking. But then again I'm not on the field.

    He's been a fierce competitor, but gentleman his whole career and I'm kind of at a loss of some of the hate myself.

    As far as media darlings I remember more than one, with Peyton Manning being one I really remember as we played them every year. However it never bothered me with Manning as I always admired him, and for that matter still do. I root for his team if mine is not in the hunt.
