Jif's favorite player, the REAL MVP, just hit a grand slam in the 2nd inning off Barry Zito to get the Yanks out 7-0. At age 30, A-Rod has 431 HRs. Why is this important? Because no matter what Barry Bonds does, he will only finish # 2 to this guy.
Not so sure George..He must stay healthy. ( Griffey Jr ). I will say this.. I hope The Yankee Clippers 56 game streak lives on!! jif
Speaking of Jolt'n Joe's 56 game streak, a Philly named Rollins is now at 37. If he gets to 57 it will have been over 2 seasons, would that break the Clippers record? Terry
No question A-Rod is one of the best players in baseball during the regular season. I hope Dimaggio's streak never gets broken, and certainly not over two seasons. Btw, Dimaggio had a longer streak in the PCL. JO'Co will know the exact number, but I think it's 61 games. Rick
Thats what I mean , Doc.. Rollins is closing in on The Clipper. It wont count of course as single season..but could go in books as consecutive games. Walk the Bastard! jif
Ditto on DiMaggio's streak, That's sacred. Yes, it would count over two seasons. I was a huge Pete Rose fan and found myself rooting against him when he got close.
And that's ********. How do you justify a record that included a 4 & 1/2 month break from the action? Having time to recooperate from injuries, more strength and conditioning during the break, etc. Using golf as an example, Bobby Jones won all the majors of his time in the same calender year. Tiger, Jack, Player, Etc, have won the Grand Slam, and most recently Tiger held all Major titles at once, but didn't win them consecutively. See there's the key word in this discussion....consecutively
