Chase Headly plays third base like a circus bear wearing handcuffs. He is where routine outs turn into three run innings.
This reminds me of my youth, when as a young Astro's fan my favorite player was Bob Aspromonte, he was a golden glove 3rd baseman. My dad used to like to tease me that he rarely made any errors because he couldn't go to his left.
I can tell you that Headley is equally bad at first base. Just dropped a pop up where he did not have to move. P.s. His gaffe led to a six run 9th for the Angels The Yankees had to practically wake up Dellan Betances in the bullpen and rush him into the game with bases full and no outs. By the time he finally put out the fire it was a one run victory.
Interesting to watch the Yankees acknowledgements of the various milestones Rodriguez has eclipsed in the last six weeks. There have been none. He passed Mays in HRs. He pased Gehrig and Ruth in RBIs and now has only Aaron in front of him. And sometime later this month he will eclipse 3,000 hits. THey are treating him and the events as if they are not happening. One thing they cannot deny is that without him this year there is a reasonable chance that they would be in last place instead of first. I find it sad. They should have cut him.
re: Headley gaffe That 9th inning was very nearly the greatest choke in the history of the Yankees franchise. I'm sure that George could feel my eyes burning into him from 3,000 miles away as the Bombers slowly strangled in confusion. The Angels didn't have to do anything. They had long since removed Trout and Pujols from the game; both of whom were perched on the dugout fence, yelling one liners at the Yankee pitchers, who pretended that they had everything under control... l
Backed up the pop up <t>Headly committed his 13th error of the year on Saturday, the most in a single season he has ever committed and we are in early June!</t>
 Chase Headley is now in full, melt-down mode. He has completely fallen apart. The Yanks need to get him out of there...
Headley was a guy that the Dodgers were chasing for years and San Diego wouldn't give him up, because of the division rivalry. I admit to being a little angry when the Padres let him go to the other league and I've been shocked at his poor play. Considering that the Dodgers wound up with TWO 3rd basemen batting over .300 and were able to trade Uribe...I think we dodged a bullet there. As the old saying goes, "We would rather be lucky than good."
