http://www.gainesville.com/article/.../1136/SPORTS?Title=Calathes-to-play-in-Greece I expect this to be a trend that will increase. The perks of playing basketball in Europe are too great to completely ignore.
I believe he is making 1.1 million after taxes, a home and a car. He then gets to play basketball full time to try and improve enough to go to the NBA. However if he doesn't make it to the NBA the above salary is pretty good. It hurts the Gators but it's amazing how many !#$#@$!@ Gator internet fans don't realize what we lost and claim they are glad he's gone. Jerks. Read this article about a young kid who's a basketball player and what internet fans said about him. There are so many people who hide behind a keyboard then think they know everything. I hope most of us have more common sense. Internet Fans And A Young Wisconsin Basketball Player I hope most of us have more common sense.
Bill, There are sour grapes fans at every program. With regards to the article you posted, that it happened at Wisconsin is no surprise to me. When Cindy and I sat behind the student section a few years ago at the Tenn vs Wisconsin bowl game in Tampa, we were amazed at the lack of class and maturity shown by the Wisconsin students. It was almost comical. In my younger days, I would have been offended and mad. I was just concerned for the future of our country seeing what will be responsible for running it in the next 20 to 30 years.
Tom, I thought about your posts on the Wisconsin students when I read this article. Unfortunately I see to much of that kind of garbage on Gator boards also. Civility seems to take a back seat when you can hide behind a keyboard way to often.
We've actually had that happen on NDNation. It was a few years ago but a kid from Fla verbaled to ND, but he wasn't very highly thought of by posters who complained that the staff shouldn't have taken him he was too small too slow to whatever. He decommited and went to Stanford saying that when he commited he was so excited to be going to ND but after reading how little ND fans thought of him he decided to go some place else. He never had that much of a college career, I can't remember his name. But internet fans are pretty brutal and frank in their evaluation of players.
Brutal and frank are true Terry, but I see way to many that I could add a couple of less flattering words to, like stupid, classless for instance.
You ever see the ad with the sports guys heckling people on the job? These guys can dish it, but they can't take it.
I don't remember the specific commercials, but I do remember that they existed and the looks on the idiots' faces.
