Freeze spending. Cut taxes across the board. And government gets the hell out of the way. Why won't Congress and the WH try this? because they know it will work and more importantly, we will know for sure that we really don't need them.
Let me see MCG, for Bush's 8 years the Dems did the same thing, blocking Judges etc. While I think Congress is dsyfunctional I don't remember hearing you or the so called main stream media complaining then. Other than that I agree with George.
They're all at fault if they cannot divorce themselves from what is right for the party to embrace what is right for the people. I'm not sure I agree with George if what he describes is the scenario that brought our economic house down.
The "Angry Middle"......heard that term used today on GMA... There you have it.....the new party is formed.......I hope. O'Reilly and Stephanopolous were both talking about it this morning and Evan Bayh was a part of that discussion. I tell you......if the GOP and the Dems keep up with their divisive, self-serving rancor instead of governing with some sense of integrity and trying their best for all Americans then I think the situation is ripe for a new party to make some serious noise on the political scene. One of the problems I think is when one party or the other wins the Senate for instance by say a 51-49 margin or a Presidential election by a 49-47 margin, etc. that winning party suddenly forgets that they only have a majority by the skinniest of margins. A 50-49 win for the presidency is by no means a mandate......there is one helluva lot of people that just may hate that guy. It seems to defy logic that a winning party can somehow assume that their way is only way when they have barely won a majority. Also.....as I have said before the loons on both sides absolutely ruin the propsect of good government. The new guy Brown in Ma. was absolutely villified by internet comments from his Dem hating right wing constituents when he voted for the jobs bill. I want that fringe element OUT of my government. I don't feel it is acceptable that a fringe 15% of the population ever is allowed to dictate what the other 85% must think or do.
Unemployment claims up sharply today.... had been expected to drop sharply. A healthcare reform bill expected to cost $1 trillion up front being discussed. Numerous tax hikes being considered at the federal level. These guys in Washington simply do NOT get it. We have more debt at this moment than we have the ability to pay and it grows by the second. If we don't get people to work we are done. CUT TAXES ACROSS THE BOARD. FREEEZE SPENDING IMMEDIATELY. THEN START LOOKING TO CUT ALL UNNEEDED FEDERAL OVERHEAD ASAP.
This part of your platform I agree with George. It's the part about letting the crooks be crooks that I don't agree with. In otherwords.....letting Wall Street and Healthcare companies charge what they want.....when they want......or deny what they want in the case of healthcare. I don't trust that group in the least to do the right thing with honesty and integrity. When it comes to essential services.....and I have said this many times before......services like fuel and banking and healthcare.....I do believe in government intervention and monitoring because those in charge of those industries cannot be trusted and it's unfair to "let the market work" because people need these services and will have to pay whatever the exorbitant cost or go without. If you're talking about a new coat....a new TV.....a steak dinner......etc. let the market be the market........or whatever the market will bear.

I never said " let crooks be crooks ". You said that. I'm all for cleaning the various sectors up but we need to stop spending NOW and cut taxes. Nobody is hiring and nobody will with the tax situation as it is. A dam has to be built. once the flood waters are held then we can take a long look at the shysters.
