Auburn - Miss State. Miss State on the one yard line of Auburn 10 sec to go, their QB takes a keeper and heads for the endzone it looks like he will go in easily, an Auburn tackler makes an unbelievable tackle and stops the Miss State guy on about the one inch line. 41 - 34 Auburn. S. Carolina - Georgia. Spurrier is still the master of the mind games. In the first half 13 - 7 Georgia. S. Carolina has 4th and 2 at their own 32. Spurrier sends his team out in formation to run a play. The QB however doesn't like what he sees and calls time out. The likely thing to do is to punt, no Spurrier sends his team out prepared to run a play. Georgia calls time out. This time S. Carolina comes out in punt formation and while the announcers are talking about how smart they were to punt, the ball is hiked to one of the blockers for the punter who not only makes a first down but goes all 68 yards for a td. S. Carolina goes on to intercept a pass for a td and finally win 45 - 42. Notre Dame - Michigan, I only saw the end of the game but that was enough. 3 td's in the last 1:12. Michigan scores to take the lead. Notre Dame marches the length of the field in about 40 seconds to retake the lead. Then Michigan goes the length of the field in 30 seconds to take the lead and the game. 35 - 31 Michigan. And of course in the most exciting game of all, the Gators win 39 - 0. Just kidding of course. We will be lucky to see this many exciting games the rest of the year let alone the second week of the season when a lot of teams haven't even gotten to their tough games. Gators included. Fun week for people who were not invested in the teams that lost those heart breakers.
I see the first instance of the new rule that takes points off the board for excessive celebration happened in the Utah/USC game. Didn't cost USC the game....but it's going to sometime. It's a bad rule.
Bill, Some exciting games for sure. Unfortunatly I went to be and missed the finish of the Michigan Notgre Dame game. Auburn and Iowa both caused me grief in the pickum contest.
the Iowa/Iowa State game was amazing. Basically, Iowa State offense consists of 3 categories 'playground, 2-hand touch, dares'... and that crap worked... amazing.
Yeah that was big of them, I wonder how many big time gamblers in Vegas got in touch with their enforcers and went to have a talk with the Pac12 Commish of Officals!!
I was wondering how that would affect the betting lines. If you took Utah and the points, were you able to collect immediately? Only to find out later that you shouldn't have? If you tore up your ticket because you took USC, can you still collect? How long has it been since a score was changed hours AFTER the game was final?
I don't think the score of a game has ever been changed after the final whistle. Certainly conference commissioners have admitted errors by officals and said they were sorry, but the scores have always remained unchanged. This is a very bad precedent IMHO.
 One of my granddaughters attended her first college game yesterday and saw Cal beat Colorado in OT at Boulder, CO. She was excited afterward, so there were great games all over the country yesterday...
