What do you guys think of the Tigers giving a that monster contract to Caberra? They are going to be locked into paying him big bucks till he's in his 40s. The Mike Trout contract on the other hand makes perfect sense. I think the smartest thing that the Cardinals ever did is to let Big Al walk. The Angels are paying for his great production as a Cardinal, plus the Cards got some really good young talent out of the deal.
After watching how the Yankees did on a smaller scale with A-Rod I think the Cabrera contract is ridiculous. The bar is set. A-Rod got $250 million for ten years.... easy math. In the first four years I thin k he won two MVPs and one WS. We'll see. Trout was a no-brainer.
I agree that the Trout deal was a no brainer. He'll be 26 when the deal expires. If he performs up to his potential, his next contract will be huge. Correction: He'll be 28 when the contract expires.
Of course the Yankee's will be off to a 3-0 start after a series with the worst team in Baseball...but we're getting better we're told!!
Well Jiffy.....bad news is 90 minutes has come and gone.....good news is you have 161 more chances to get it right....
 The Angels were smart to sew up Trout for a few years. He's a Jersey guy who could go Yankee at any time. How good is he? He's 22 and he was the top MLB run scorer in his first two years. If he does it again this year, he'll be the first to do it three years in-a-row since Mickey Mantle in 1956, 1957, and 1958... I'm still in shock by what AJ and I saw at Angel Stadium. He has a chance to be the greatest player of all-time.
I was there....I'm a believer.....what did he do first bat of the season?....Yard Then Albert gets up and gets booed.....we (STL) woulda treated you better Al.....but a mans gotta do...
Well....as of right now (currently 6-2 stros), your prediction isn't looking as good as 90 minutes ago...
Vegas has our Over/Under for wins this year at 62.5....so only 61.5 to go!! I would have bet that the Yankees would have come in and blown us out. Still can of course. But I'm stunned!
Their clean up hitter is a 5'6" second baseman. And I doubt if he's that tall. But he has a postage stamp strike zone.
We'll come back to earth, everybody says we'll be lucky to avoid another 100 loss year. It's that bad. Not to mention the owner has screwed up the broadcast rights so bad that I can't even watch them unless they are a national game on a national network.
