5 years ago the Aggies left the Big Bevo conference to join the SEC. So far it's looking like a good partnership on all sides. We were welcomed as a full member immediately and have received more money than we can shake a big stick at. We've gotten excellent coverage on all media fronts, and have been treated very well by our new conference bretheren. In the last 5 years the Aggies have won 19 conference titles and 4 national championships, so I think it's safe to say we're doing our part to sell the SEC brand. In case you can't tell... I have LOVED this move, it's been even better than we could have hoped for.
Scott, I have no problem with the addition of A&M or Missouri. I am just not a proponent of conference expansion for the sake of expansion. A&M has contributed but I'm not sure if the SEC is better off or not. We were doing fine before expansion. In reality, this move was probably very good for y'all but didn't change much for the SEC.
I'm pretty comfortable with the additions of A&M and Mo. They both have won some unexpected games at times in football....Mizzou actually winning the SEC East... and you feel like it's a true SEC game when you have to play either of them. Looking forward to the Aggies visit to The Swamp this year.
Dave the wonderful Texans are spending funds to visit Hogtown this October and us fair weathered Gator fans are doing the same. It would be wonderful to say hello to you or at the very least watch the game together as Skybox members.... Hope to shake your hand and say hello....
Scotts numbers made me want to look up how the Longhorns have done since the Aggies left. 37 Conference Championships and 5 National Championships. Not bad.
Appreciate the personal invite Ralph. I'm still sorting out which game or two I might go to and that Aggie game is definitely under consideration.
Definitely "another" view. One decidedly in favor of the BEVO 12. Would our football outcomes been better the last few years if we'd stayed? Very likely yes. Would that mean our teams were better, or we just played a MUCH softer schedule? The author acts like most Aggies secretly want to go back... what a ridiculous supposition. I haven't heard a single person even come close to leaning that way. Right now we get to go to Gainesville, Tuscaloosa, Oxford, Baton Rouge. I'm sure we'd all MUCH rather go to Lubbutt, Ames, Stoolwater, or Lawrence. No thanks. We'll take our chances where we are.
Yeah time either proves you right or wrong, in this case he'd have to eat his words. I'm sure that OU and Texas will not be the dominant teams in the SEC that they were in the Big 12, actually Texas hasn't been a dominant team even in the B12 Football for more than a few years now. But overall this will be a good move for all, the Sooners/Longhorns and the SEC.
