I must be dreaming...it cant be true.. Belichik didnt come out with a RED HOODIE Sunday! He didnt make half time adjustments! He didnt eat some clock at end of go ahead drive! Manning squirmed out of grasp and threw a lollipop to Tyree who caught it on his head with 2 Pats around him!! Tell me Belichik didnt pass up a 48.5 yard FG for a 4th and 13 play. Tell me Hobbs was not left to cover Plaxico one on one!!! I must be dreaming...but did Brady throw 3 hail marys with 30 seconds on the clock and 3 timeouts...when he only needed 35 yards to get in FG range!!! IM IN REHAB with Bill!!
Take it easy, Joel. You'll be OK. You still have the Celts, Bruins and Red Sox to keep you warm and fuzzy. It was a hard fought game. Other than being on the short end of the score, the Pats have nothing to be ashamed of. What people tend to forget is that despite the Pats' domination in the regular season, the NFL with its parity is still the original "On any given Sunday......" league.
When you lose a close game like this it's always easy to go back and find all the what ifs. The decision not to kick the field goal was interesting. But you have to admit that type of 4th down play is one the Patriots have made all year, crossing route to Welker, screen to Faulk, sideline to Stallworth. I hadn't really thought about the hail marys though, I forget though did he have enough time outs to move 35yds with passes over the middle? Giants weren't going to let you complete sideline passes.
...he had 3 timeouts. As far as the 4th and 13 goes...the most they went for on 4th down ..was 4 yds. Odds on making a first down on 4th and 13 are 18%....odds on a 48 yd FG are 50% (in a dome)
I guess from reading your posts that this is a pretty hot topic then in NE on all the talk shows right?
YES! Cant get away from it..in stores..radio TV wherever you go. Its not a question of "poor sportsmanship" Its the way the ball bounces. They play 10 times..Pats win 9. If that ball didnt sail right throuh Samuels fingers on the intercept attempt..game over and NY Post would say on its cover..Eli chokes again! I just heard on ESPN.. Pats are 3 to 1 to win it all in 2009!!
jif any expectations of changes on defense? Seau is not getting younger, nor are Brusci, Vrabel and Harrison. What about the #1 draft pick? Still high on the RB from Arkansas?
Pats have 7th over all pick in draft. I would love to see Junior come back for one last shot. Tedy has 2 good years left. Vrabel ok. Im sure they are looking for free agents. Dont hear much about the running back from Arkansas.
That 4th and 13 call was a strange one, it seems if they didn't go for the field goal it might have been better to punt and try to pin the Giants deep. But Billicheck is a smart coach so I won't 2nd guess him. Hey Joel, I don't think we are talking about the same type of rhab!!!
