Rick Monday from El Segundo, California and the United States Marine Corps Reserve saved the American flag at Dodger Stadium and became a legend like no other... http://youtu.be/M5UbcyCLnm0
It's a free country. They're free to burn the flag and Rick is free to piss on their parade. Welcome to America, bitches.. Freedom is a cold, steel blade and she's got 2 sides. Well done Rick.. also sad, I remember something from 35 years ago.. jesus.
God bless Rick Monday is right. Also I din't know about Tommy Lasorda. Does anyone know anything about the two assholes who were trying to butn the flag.
 A decade ago, I was in a line to get autographs from current and former Dodgers. The woman in front of me wanted Tommy Lasorda to sign a magazine with a picture of an American flag on the front cover. Clearly horrified by what she had asked him to do, he angrily refused. Raising his voice so that everyone could hear he said, "Lady...I'm a proud veteran of the United States Army and I will never write on that flag." "We should honor that flag." He was pissed off and she sheepishy walked away with nothing...
Rick Monday served in the U.S. Marine Corp Reserve and I've heard him say many times how proud he was to be a Marine. He's one of our Dodger broadcasters here. http://www.veteransadvantage.com/cms/content/rick-monday
I didn't know that Monday was a Cub that day in Dodger Stadium. I thought he was a Dodger, he was of course later traded by the Cubs to the Dodgers...but that day he was a Cub.
Oh yes. Pardon me, I thought everyone knew that Monday was a Cub that day. After the flag saving incident, the Dodgers immediately went on a crusade to obtain him which they did in the off season, trading Bill Buckner for Monday in a five-player swap...
I never knew that. That was an outstanding article. SEMPER FI DEVIL DOG RICK MONDAY.....even if you we're a Cubbie at one time....
