The more time goes by...the more deaths both of good solid Americans and mostly innocent Iraqis.....the more that good honest and well thought of people like Gerald Ford and Colin Powell come out and heavily criticize this puke of a war the more pissed off I get at the small core of ill-advised or possibly even dishonest leadership driven by personal agendas. http://www.cnn.com/2006/US/12/31/iraq.deathtoll/index.html
 ...and for six years the Democrats haven't lifted a finger to help. They were never a loyal opposition, just as they have never been a loyal opposition in any war our country has fought when they didn't control the White House. They voted for the war, then immediately began to undermine the war effort. Now that they're in control of the Congress again, they have the power to stop the war immediately, but they haven't even suggested that. Instead, their plan is to INCREASE the number of American troops sent to Iraq, over the objections of American military commanders on the ground. Please tell us, oh wise one, what your plan is and when you expect the Democratic Party to propose that plan as policy...
"began to undermine the war effort" So your answer is that it's all the fault of the Dems and Bush/Cheney and company cooked none of this mess up?
I'm just wondering when you will understand what losing means. The killing won't stop just because we leave Iraq. The war against us will spread to every corner of the globe if we do and the war will come here. Its a war to the death between two different cultures and retreat only delays our annilhilation. The Democrats played politics with this war from the beginning. They have always put their own interests above their country going back 30 years or more. When are they going to help? When are they going to take political risks to help win this thing? Bush/Cheney and company haven't always been right, but they were always trying to do what was right, often at significant political risk to themselves and their own party while the lib/Dems sniped, chattered and took both sides of every issue. The free ride is over now. The Demos must make decisions that carry political risk. What is the plan for victory? We'd like to hear it.
You have already been presented with the Plan... and the plan is that there is no plan. The worst nightmare for the Dems is that they won the majority and now have to produce and they can't/won't.
The real killing began AFTER we entered Iraq. Saddam didn't come remotely close to killing the innocent women and children who have died in Iraq since the U.S. invasion. That is abhorrent.
What bothers me most is my fellow Americans voted for the guy twice and most still refuse to admit this war was uncalled for.
re: "The real killing began AFTER we entered Iraq. " I don't know where you came up with that one, but I have a suspicion. The Democratic Party has been tossing around bogus numbers for a long time now. When Jesse Jackson ran for president, he claimed that the majority of the GNP (Gross National Product) was being spent on the military. In fact, the United State has NEVER spent most of its GNP on the miltary. The highest expenditure was 24% during WWII. Saddam Hussein killed an estimated 600,000 people during his reign, including an average of about 6,000 per month in between the two Gulf wars. Add it up. But you're wrong for more important reasons. What you're guilty of is what's called "moral equivalence." You compare people dying in battle trying to establish a democracy that will help us fight against terrorism, with the cold-blooded murder of hundreds of thousands so that a dictator can line his own pockets and satisfy his own personal desires as he promoted terrorism. You REALLY don't see any difference? If you don't want to make a stand in Iraq, then where do we draw the line? Iran? Algeria? Cleveland? Its NOT enough to just sit back and criticize. What's the plan? What should we do different? How can we win if we don't fight back?
Ball is in the Dem court now. I'm sure they have a plan for withdrawal with honor ready to implement. They've had 12 years to prepare for this day so I am expecting big things from Nancy Pelosi and friends. I'm wondering if you two guys are flying your flag at half mast in tribute to Saddam's demise. He was so misunderstood. And much smarter than Bush.
You honestly think that these marketplace street bombings, etc. that occur almost daily in Iraq do not kill women and children? Granted the Iraqis are doing it to themselves and I never implied otherwise but these random suicide bombings etc. are surely not just killing army aged males and police. Saddam was evil and worthless and it's great he is gone but at what cost? I think you would cut off your foot to get rid of an ingrown toenail.
LOL! After years of careful consideration, Huskerman has decided to join the political debate by bellyflopping into the pool and drenching everyone at the same time...
That looks much more like Charlie Weis or Phil Fulmer (although PF has dropped about 25 lbs) that it will ever resemble Huskerman. :?
Does anyone out there think that this violence will stop if we withdraw? The fact is it will only get worse. The failure is the Iraqi government and the factions in that country to live in a democratic society. The fact is, it's become pretty clear that a large Muslim segment of a country will never agree to power sharing. Someday, France will learn this lesson. Meanwhile, the flood of illegal aliens will keep that problem from occurring here for a long, long time. Here's some numbers 0 terrorist attacks in the US since 9/11 0 American deaths from terrorist attacks in the US since 9/11 Thousands of Taliban and Al Quada members killed or captured Obviously, we not doing anything right. Let's end the Patriot Act, withdraw our forces from the Middle East and surrender.
