Congrats George and Buck T Special congrats to Mert, Yankee fan since 1941. I'm happy that you got to see another one pops.
Although I'm not a big baseball fan, it is appropriate to recognize greatness and the Yankees reached that level a long time ago. When you don't have a dog in the fight, it is fun to cheer for the underdog. Most of the time, that leads to losing the fight. Congrats to the Yankees and their fans.
Phillies had one hell of a team. One or two middle relievers away..... Posada paid them an interesting compliment.... he said when he looked in their dugout it reminded him of the Yankees in 1996.
Great win along many dimensions.....good for Mo, Jeter, Posada and Pettite - heart and soul of a dynasty. I don't know how many more they have in them, but one more certainly has to validate Mo and Jeter amongst the best to ever play. Thrilled for A-Rod - played superbly in the clutch and gets his ring and the monkey off his back - perhaps people can finally focus on the brilliance of his game instead of searching for reasons to dog him.....someone should check on Jiffy.
Congratulations to the Yankees. It was a good series. I'm ambivalent about Arod, but in the end I'm glad to see him get a ring. Also, I like Girardi. I agree with you, George, about the middle relief. I would add that they need to 1) sign Cliff Lee, 2) find a solid #2 starter ahead of Hamels at #3 and Pedro at #4, and 3) do something about the closer position. I'm betting that Hamels returns to his 2008 form next year.
He's out there somewhere. I hope he chimes in one of these days to let us know how many days to pitchers and catchers.
