The official 64 seeds have been announced! Ohio State has been fortunate to go to Nashville and maybe meet Vanderbilt! Coaches and players have to be licking their chops at the other three teams in the first round!:)

Rough draw against Vandy. They are the cream of the SEC. The committee once again leaves me scratching my head, but what is done is done. It's time to play ball. People are fussing about TCU, rightfully, but the real crime in my mind is Florida State. How many times can one school be given lifetime achievement awards to their HCs before they actually earn the damned thing... but I digress, onto ball.

BTW, how about the state of Nebraska with 3 teams in the dance?

Indiana State is seeded #2 in the Vandy regional with a record of 41-16 including four, count 'em, four elimination game wins in the MVC conference tournament. They won the championship game 16-3 over ranked Dallas Baptist.

IU is in the tournament as the #2 seed at Louisville with a 36-21 record. They're in the tournament for the 6th time in 7 years. They won the regular season Big10 championship in Coach Jeff Mercer's first season and have hit a team record 90 HR in 57 games.

More talent there than I realized Sid. I can see why we are the 4th seed.

Ya know...its hard to get excited about that. Baseball around here hasn't grabbed anyones attention since Van Dorn, and nobody roots for Creighton or UNO unless your Kid goes there, or your Dentist graduated from there.

There were a lot of upsets in the first round. Now it's time for the grind, or go home.

Cincinnati upset Oregon State 7-6. They are red hot right now.
    Loyola Marymount dumped Baylor 3-1.
    Michigan hammered Creighton 6-0
    Dallas Baptist beat Florida 11-8
    TCU destroyed CA 13-2
Southern Miss upset and destroyed Arizona State 15-3
    Duke upset Texas A&M 8-5
    Central Michigan upset Miami 6-5
Fresno State beat UC Santa Barbara 9-2

Now we find out who has real pitching depth and bullpens.

Yeah Vandy is the Oregon of baseball. They have a blue million uniforms and I have no idea what they'll wear day to day. Their Gold on White uniforms look pretty good, but the all black pinstripes are really terrible.

Ohio State stays alive with a 9-8 win over McNeese in 13 innings to advance. Magno had 12 SO in relief to win the game. Pretty sloppy game on both sides with a total of five errors. However, a win is a win and we will play again tomorrow.
