Haven't done much research yet. Game of the week is Scott's Aggies at home to Clemson. I fear for Aggie QB's. Clemson's DL is reportedly good enough that all 4 starters could be taken in the 1st round and certainly all will be on the 1st day. I hope the Aggie OL eats it's wheaties! The Jimbo v Dabo will no doubt dominate the pre-game hype though.
Not a lot of big games looking at the schedule beyond A&M v Clemson. Mississippi State travels to KState that should be a good solid contest. UCLA travels to Oklahoma...OU will kill them. Georgia travels to South Carolina...this could be a really good game. Colorado travels to Neb...there was a time when this was a big rivalry game at least from the Colorado standpoint. I'm sure AJ has some stories. Kentucky is at Florida...should find out something about Florida this weekend. USC at Stanford...this should be a really big game for the Pac12 and their playoff hopes as well as for Bryce Love who didn't have a good game v San Diego State. Michigan State at Arizona State. MSU barely got by Utah State, while ASU handily beat up on UTSA. CAL at BYU who surprised Arizona last week. Tulsa and Texas play in Austin. Tom Herman needs the Longhorns to put a whupping on these guys, badly. A loss would be unforgivable, even a close win would be tough to swallow.
The new receivers at UF Jefferson and Grimes seemed to add a lot of extra targets for Franks who looked like he has been a huge beneficiary of coaching over the summer also. He made some throws he just did not make last year all season. I know it was vs. FCS competition but he couldn't do it against air last year. Kentucky will challenge his progress and that of the Gators. If they have similar fun and look good doing it next Saturday I might perk up a little regarding their season chances. Otherwise I agree with Kp that SC-Ga should be a fun grinder to watch.
Well Coaches Poll is out. Irish and Stanford to the top 10 , Irish at 8 and Stanford 9, Gators make their first appearance in quite awhile at #25. As predicted Texas isn't even in the others receiving votes and Miami plummeted to 21. Lots of movement. The team that didn't move that I'm surprised at is Penn State at #10 after nearly losing to App State at home.
I'm also surprised the Nits didn't drop. Came very very close to losing to AppSt. There was a blatant hold in their offensive backfield on a crucial play on their tying drive that was completely overlooked by the refs. That should have finished em.
Kentucky RB Benny Snell is supposed to be one of the best RB in the SEC and the country. How has he done v the Gators in the past?
A lot can happen between week one and two. Everything will sort out as we move through the schedule. Could be a number of upsets this week, be careful on your confidence points!
Thompson High School in Alabaster, Alabama. A suburb of Birmingham. Taulia Tagovolua (Tua's younger brother) is the quarterback and Alabama commit.
Joel will love these games. Wisconsin v New Mexico Michigan v W.Michigan ND v Ball State BC v Holy Cross Va.Tech v William and Mary Oregon v Portland State Alabama v Arkansas State Ohio State v Rutgers.. although he might give OSU a pass because they are playing a conf game. In the past he would have roasted ND for playing RU. Washington v North Dakota Miami v Savannah State ...he'll love this one the most. Texas v Tulsa
This weeks Heisman Watch. As always this is a week to week thing, have a bad game and you fall down the list. Prediction. Ed Oliver will not win the Heisman Trophy!
Will Grier keeps throwing with the accuracy he displayed vs. Tenn on Sat. it is his to lose. I would say he is fun to watch except it sickens me that McElwain's ego allowed or possibly encouraged Grier to leave the program at UF. Oh well..... lost a Heisman winner and an asshole coach and hopefully gained a much better coach in the process.
Well... it's time for the Aggies to grow up fast. I can't pick us to win... even at Kyle. The Tiger D-line is world class, and while our O-line is MUCH improved, it's still got some young pups, and needs more work. Hard to score enough in that situation. I do think many are underestimating our defensive front, and that they will battle Clemson's offense all game. I will say... if they use the freshman QB too much, they could be in trouble. We can collapse the pocket on him, and he's not nearly the threat to escape that Bryant is... I'll be there, and I don't concede, but I can't predict a victory for my kids. :?
Don, Sorry, I just saw this https://www.al.com/sports/index.ssf/2018/09/hes_improved_alabama_qb_commit.html KP, Will you be wanting any "Rocket City Trash Pandas" gear??
