Thought I'd start a new topic to encompass the regular season. Feel free of course to start topics about particular teams and games.

But a big weekend coming, starts on Thursday with Jimbo Fishers debut at A&M when they play Northwestern State of Louisiana. Should be an easy win for the Aggies. Also a very early Big 10 contest between Purdue and Northwestern. Oklahoma State and Utah also play on Thursday.

    Other Big games this weekend.

Ohio State gets out of the headlines and on to the field vs Oregon State which should be a solid/easy win for the Buckeyes. They talked about the state of the Buckeyes without Urban Meyer the whole month of August and not having him on the sidelines either. But they pointed out that the staff is a veteran staff with 2 former HC's and a highly regarded Ryan Day.

Texas travels to Maryland who still hasn't resolved the status of Durkin. I expect the Longhorns to be fit and ready for revenge.

Ole Miss and Texas Tech play in a neutral site game here in Houston. Most expected Texas Tech to have fired Kliff Kingsbury after last season but he's back and Ole Miss has made their interim HC the new HC. Ole Miss has a WR that everybody thinks is the best in the country.

Washington travels to Atlanta to play Auburn. Some think this is a must win game for the Huskies if the Pac12 is going to have a playoff team.

Tenn vs WVa a team that has a 1st round pick at QB and a 1st round pick at WR. It's another neutral site game. WVA has high expectations this year, would be a downer to get a loss in the 1st game. Tenn of course breaking in a new coach.

Wash State goes to Wyoming. Cowboys have been a solid program.

UNC travels to Berkley and CAL . UNC still has problems with the rules and will be down a few players.

Cincy travels to UCLA and takes on Chip Kelly's first team. Kelly has a lot of work to do.

Michigan at Notre Dame Kelly needs this win badly.

Louisville and Alabama in another neutral site game. Bama will likely bury them.

Akron and one of the Bowdens travel to Neb for Scott Frost's debut.

UTSA goes to Tempe for the debut of ASU's Herm Edwards

BYU goes to Tucson for the debut of Arizona's Kevin Sumlin.

LSU and Miami play in Dallas. Eddie O vs the Hurricanes. I don't know what to expect here, lots of crazy Cajuns in Dallas but I doubt if many Miami fans make it.

Va.Tech and FSU tee it up on Monday night. These games have been barn burners, the first one Texas v Notre Dame was an overtime thriller win for the Longhorns and the Irish had their worst season in years after that game. Ga. Tech and Tenn last year played another great game with Ga.Tech out of gas after that game like ND and having a really bad season. The winners didn't do much better both Charlie Strong and Butch Jones were fired after the season. Doubt if either Taggert or Fuentes though are in any danger.

I find it ironic that the 1st game of Doctor Tom's last season, 1997, was the home opener against Akron.

    Butthurt news...

So, for the 1st time in NU history, a true FR (Adrian Martinez) will take the opening snaps to start the season. There had been a neck and neck race between him and RFr Tristan Gebbia (Mike Riley's boy) since springball. The news was given to both Saturday, and today Gebbia didn't show up for practice.

Maybe you should go to the northside of the Stadium and take a good hard look at the Brooke Berringer statue Tristan.

Gators at #52..... does this guy know anything other than what happened last season?

Great depth at RB, WR and in the secondary plus a new staff on the bench.

1,000 yard rusher returning from last year's year long suspension.

I guess we'll see if #52 was too low.

Have to be with MCG on this one, Gators at 52?

    No way.

Udub @#4 vs. #7 Auburn looks like a blockbuster. The Huskies are loaded and may have the best QB in the country...

A lot of questions about ND, UCLA, AZ,

Kelly better win this GD game against Michigan. I'm tired of being 2nd or 3rd in these beauty contests. It's time for Brian to be today's pretty princess.

Didn't Maryland kick the tits off the Longhorns last year despite losing their top 2 QBs in that game?

Washington will be playing in Auburn's back yard at another southern 'neutral site' game. It will be a tough environment for the Huskies, but if they win, they should be placed no lower than 2nd.

UCLA suspended 6 starters for their game with the Bearcats... which means Chip Kelly probably has them right where he wants them.

LSU/Miami is where the party is at. If I were a younger man, I'd be hitch hiking to that one.

Looking forward to our new offensive strength with Haskins at the helm and his strong arm and accuracy. Fans need to give him a break on his first start. A lot of pressure is going to be on this young man. I really do not expect him to perform as well as he did at Michigan last season when JT was injured. GO Bucks!

Maryland did beat the Longhorns 51-41, a stunning win no doubt. Maybe not kicking the tits off the Longhorns though.

I see that more starting QB's have been named.

    Aggies chose Kellen Mond
    FSU goes with DeOndre Francois
LSU goes with Joe Burrows the Ohio State transfer
Clemson goes with last years starter Kelly Bryant over phenom frosh Trevor Lawrence
Neb chose true freshman Adrian Martinez, and as AJ reported his competition being butt hurt left the team and the school. They have only walkons now to backup Martinez.

I see where Saban has announced two co-starters at QB. I am sure kp is thrilled! Of course that does not necessarily mean two will play especially if the starter performs well.

Don, I haven't seen that. As a matter of fact Saban jumped down a reporters throat for asking about it. Where did you hear that?

Well Purdue will unveil a new field for the Northwestern game tonight.

They have added painted railroad tracks to the sidelines. Very unique.
