The projects I've been involved in since '05 have helped complete destruction of our nation's largest stockpile of chemical weapons. We had a huge day yesterday with dignitaries at all levels helping us celebrate. Here are a couple news articles some of you may enjoy: http://www.sltrib.com/sltrib/news/53326399-78/depot-chemical-army-weapons.html.csp http://www.washingtonpost.com/natio...pons-in-utah/2012/01/18/gIQAklOO8P_story.html
Congrats Kes, but I guess I have to ask since the article said your site will be shutdown and only a few employees left by 2014. What Next?
I am currently working on the design and work packages for D&D of the facility I helped design, build, systemize, operate and maintain. Closure and demo will probably take me through the end of the year. After that, no clue. My RIF is likely some time next year and since they are giving 90 days' notice I haven't really looked to hard yet. It's hard to tell prospective employers that I could be available some time between 8/12 and 3/14, so didn't see much point yet.
Funny you should see that, gip. I was looking to go to libya for the same stockpile about 5 years ago for a contract with the DOS when political difficulties canceled the project. Since then, I have met (remet) the woman of my life so it would be a much more difficult assignment this time. An example, hazard pay when it's just me that would suffer the consequences isn't the same when there's someone at home worrying about me.
