It appears the B1G Ten Conference is really going to be a free for all this season.

Michigan State loses to Northwestern on the road. Buckeyes lose to Illinois on the road. Huskers push Wisconsin to the wire at home.

Yesterday Ohio State soundly beat Indiana here in Columbus. Currently Michigan State and Illinois are tied for the lead with one loss, but there are a lot of teams in the middle of the pack, capable of winning any game.

There remains a lot of good basketball to be played and enjoyed.

Conference is tough this year. Any win on the road is going to be a good one. Take none for granted.

Don, how about Lenzell Jr yesterday? Having him come of age offensively like that has to be a very scary prospect for opposing coaches. Now what do you do? Came at just the right time as Buford appears to have lost confidence in his jumper.....he's a great shooter, I hope he just shoots his way out of it....

    BuckeyeT,

I was really surprised at his outburst of scoring and all over the court, not just limited to his treys. Certainly a confidence builder for him in my opinion.

I also like the way Shannon Scott has stepped in for Craft. He is going to a good one as well.

Buford is very streaky at times and I think he tries to force his shots much of the time.

    Don,

I agree Will is slumping and now trying to force things.....it's a chicken or egg thing I believe. By trying to force things he's not the smooth, flowing slasher with the sweet mid-range pull up jumper. As long as his defense doesn't suffer, I expect him to play his way out of it. We can't make a deep run in the tourney without his offense.....he's a great player but we need him to be more consistent.

OSU with Sullinger clearly is a team with the potential to win the NCAA championship. They are loaded and very deep. This week the Hoosiers came crashing back to earth, but if they can recover mentally, they will be in the hunt. IMO it's OSU and MSU followed by everyone else. As is the case in all the top conferences, the teams who can win away from home will separate themselves from the pack.

    Sid,

Cody Zeller is really a game player and will continue to improve with experience. The Zeller family has certainly produced some great basketball players.

If you watched the game, Vern Lundquist had a great line. In describing Dad Zeller's job in Washington, IN, he said that Mr. Zeller was the manager of a turkey processing plant. The family certainly did not produce any.

Unfortunately we got the really tallest Zeller at ND who in his heart wanted to be a guard.

Michigan manages to nip Michigan State in Ann Arbor. Illini now leads the pack. Purdue wins handily over Iowa.

We will only get one shot at MSU and that's a road game for us the first week of March, prior to the B1G Ten Tournament.

Sure looks that way Sid! Makes the conference games very enjoyable, at least to me.

I always liked that UM coach when he was at WVA thought his teams were well coached and played hard. I figured he would do very well at UM which traditionally has a strong basketball program. But he seemed to get off to a slow start, maybe Amaker left the cupboard bare, but he seems to have UM turned and they look like they will be in the top of the B1G for the forseeable future. I wonder how this will affect MSU, will UM start getting the top Mich talent that has been going to MSU since all the UM basketball scandals?

Another big upset last night with the Huskers winning over Indiana in Lincoln. Hoosiers are having a difficult time all of a sudden. Badgers wake up in second half and win over Northwestern in Madison. Illinois sole possession of first place.

First place Illinois has only lost to Purdue.

Last place Penn State has only beaten Purdue.

You guys are going to beat each other up this season! But along with the Big East you should get something like 6-8 teams in the Dance!

AS Sid says, a lot of parity in college basketball this season. Right now Syracuse seems to be the cream of the crop.
