What a game yesterday in Denver. Fun to watch and I am glad to see Tebow will get one more chance next week to hone his resume although Elway has to be a believer now you would think. I think Matt Ryan proved yesterday that it's not easy for a Qb to help his team score points in the NFL vs. good defenses.
I think most of America is on the Tebow bandwagon by now, except for maybe the hateful smurf, Bill Maher. The Giants could have beaten anyone yesterday.
Dave, I have to admit he is exciting to watch. I did miss the OT 80 yd pass to win. I saw a post game interview with Big Ben. He was dressed to the hilt, like he was going to attend a NYC Theater opening.
Quite a dramatic conclusion, Pittsburgh really left themselves open to the big play with nobody in the middle.
After watching Tebow yesterday "pull the trigger" with very accurate pretty throws.....deftly throw the ball away when needed......and bull his way to an 8 yard TD in addition to some critical runs for first downs like the best fullback you ever saw it's high time his critics take a step back for awhile. Matt Ryan engineers zero points in his playoff game but will anyone question his Qb abilities? Tebow is the real deal and if Elway thinks he's got someone better I'll bet there is some GM out there who would love to put fannys in the seats by having Tebow suit up for his team.
jif, What you need to worry about is not Tebow/Brady, it's Miller/Brady. If my boy Von meets your boy a few times, things will not go well for your Pats.
Jif....no doubt the Pats could score 41 and beat the Broncos again......but it wasn't Tebow that allowed Brady and the Pats to do that the first time around....it was Brady and his receivers and poor defense by the Broncos. Or.....Tebow could have a bad game.......like so many great NFL Qbs have done over the years in the playoffs...( Peyton Manning losing to the Patriots how many times???). But Peyton and whomever else got the benefit of the doubt for the next season and if Tebow falters so should he. And if the defense let's him down again so what. Good read: http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/story/16789332/love-him-or-hate-him-but-when-it-comes-to-tebow-were-all-witnesses Terry.....Tebow is much bigger than just being an ex-Gator at the moment. And he is on his way to becoming an NFL phenomenon like that which we haven't seen in awhile as described in the CBS article I posted above.
Except for the Tebow TD in OT, the play of the weekend was Texans DE JJ Watt intercepting Andy Daltons pass and taking it to the house. Pretty amazing, he was recruited to CMU as a TE by Brian Kelly, but never played for Kelly as Kelly left for Cincy. He later transfered to Wisconsin where he played DE. <iframe width="640" height="360" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/v4TlPEmXeSs" frameborder="0"></iframe>
I hate the broncos. So much that I hope they build their entire team around tebow, that way they will suck for a decade or more. Amazing that the game lost against the pats was the defense letting him down, yet in every game that they've allowed less than 21 points, its nothing but tebow bring a winner. Three losses to close out the season has not changed my view of the quality qb he is. His accuracy has actually DECLINED, not improved. You don't hire a qb for the intangibles, you hire him for his ability. Then, if he has the intangibles you're that better off. Tebow would have a place on my team ANY day, but not at qb. I bet leaf would have been a much "better" qb if he had started for these broncos.
461 yards of total offense and 41 points.....seems like a good offensive day to me for the Pats. Something similar this Saturday will absolutely prove too much to overcome for Tebow. I dunno....did you actually watch the game yesterday? Tebow was throwing very accurately and with anticipation of the route. And who says those crucial runs should just be discounted as atypical and insignificant because he's a Qb?
In 9 wins this year denver defense allowed 18ppg. In 8 losses they allowed over 31. offensive production was 23 in the wins and about 16 in the losses, 20ppg overall. Sounds like tebow has let the defense down more than the reverse, and EVERYTHING hinges on how well the defense plays, almost nothing on tebow. His highest scoring games this year? 38 against oakland, 38 against minnesota, 29 against pittsburgh in ot. Offensive juggernaut they aren't. No, I didn't watch and maybe overnight he has turned into the best qb the world has ever known, but in the losses to close the season he scored, 23, 14, and 3. He let his defense down. In six wins, the offense scored 18 in ot, 10, 17, 17, 16 in ot, and 13 in ot. And that's assuming all those were offensive points, which some were dst. seriously, you can have him.
The NFL has become a PASSING LEAGUE...thats how it is..and thats how the NFL wants it. Tebow cant pass ( in spite of the game winner last nite..which was a big time breakdown on coverage).
Jif... If you want to focus on his bad games....bad throws....not his good throws then yes he sucks......just like Matt Ryan sucks also and Drew Brees sucks because I saw Tampa Bay beat him and the New Orleans offense in person this season.......yes....THAT Tampa Bay who are the losers of 11 straight to end the season. ( they really do suck by the way )
The dude was 10 for 21. 316 yards looks good until you consider 4 receptions to one guy for 204 yards indicates pitt was selling out to stop the run. Congrats to him. He's still not a good qb. If w only want to consider his "bad" games? First he would have to have a good game so I could compare. Just kidding, but really, since he's been dubbed the chosen one, his offense hasn't managed to break 20 points in 75 percent of the time! 8 out of 12 regular season games! Including three overtime games! denvers success is ALL about the defense. Bring ryan leaf out of retirement and they could have done that with a brat in one hand and a beer in the other. I kid, but your arguments are just a ridiculous. One day he might be good. Right now he isn't.
Not saying they are alike by any stretch but I wonder what production the Colts got out of Peyton Manning his second season? These guys do tend to improve over time and over a few seasons of experience and Tebow has done just that based on yesterday.....which I will use as my own small window of analytical data if you don't mind.... 8) One thing in common though.......the heart and will to win......just like Big Ben demonstrated yesterday. The win doesn't always happen....but the great ones have that will to get it done as part of their make-up and Tebow has an extra large dose of it. Manning's first season as a starter with the Colts netted a 3-13 record and an 18 ppg game average for the offense. Tebow's record this year ( note: his first as a starter ) is 8-4 with a 19 ppg game average. Note Denver was 1-4 without him as a starter so saying Denver is a much better team than was 1998 Indy doesn't necessarily hold water.
