    Every other year when I was growing up here in SoCal, you would begin to see bumperstickers proclaiming the inevitable as the calendar neared the Thanksgiving Day weekend. That's how a kid knew that the holidays had arrived; with Christmas, turkey and a wonderful butt-kicking of the locals. All they said was, "The Irish are Coming."

    Its getting close now. I toured the Georgia Tech boards last night, only to discover that GT fans either don't exist, or they've been supplanted by professional Irish haters from other boards. One guy went to the trouble of making up several paragraphs of lies; claiming such nonsense as invading ND fans walking through the home tailgates and picking fights etc. I've been to many Notre Dame away games here in Los Angeles and one in Texas and I've never seen even one incident like that, nor can I imagine any Irish fans doing that. Why the hell would we care what the hometown fans think anyway? Since we probably have better booze at our tailgate too, the odds of our "invading" other fans tailgates is less than zero. BTW- the guy who wrote that post was a USC fan...who lives in Michigan...writing on the Georgia Tech Board...

    Yes. Its started again. That rumble you hear is the chorus of the clueless, gathering in their ignorance, intolerance and hatred of all those who still dare to believe and pray and dream. Its that time again and the countdown has begun. The Irish are comin'...

    You are right about the GT boards. I've been looking at them for a couple of weeks now and there is just not much activity there with the exception of few diehard fans and an occaisional imposter like you mentioned.<br/>
    <br/>
    I know they must have a lot more fans than what is represented on the boards. The few that are there seem to feel they are capable of pulling of the upset on Sat. <br/>
    <br/>
    The only big disadvantage I think we will have in this is the fact that they supposedly have turned the offense <U><s></s>completely <e></e></U>over to the OC now and we probably can't get to much from watching last years game films. I'm fairly sure he wants to pass more than they have in the past and should be trying more ways to get the ball to the stud WR they have. Taking this guy out of the game or limiting him to a few catches is a priority for our D.</r>

    I agree with Tim. If they watched the tape of the Fiesta Bowl, they saw our DBs getting burned right and left. Granted, they don't have the athletes that OSU has, but they have a good QB and an outstanding WR. I'm betting they intend to test our pass coverage by putting the ball in the air early and often. I would look for them to isolate the star WR in the flat vs. our DB to see if they can pull off the one-on-one foot race that OSU did so effectively. If (big IF) we can contain that play, we can set the tone for our D to control the game. Also - needless to say - look for the play action to catch our safeties coming up for the run. Man, I hope we've been able to correct that flaw.
