Reported 10 years for $250 million. I'm not surprised that he's getting a 10-year deal from an AL team, where he could be a DH in the later years of the contract. He has a no-trade clause, which reportedly was the sticking point in the negotiations with Miami. It's also reported that the Cardinals' offer was for 9 years at less than $200 million, which would have made him the 4th highest paid first baseman in the majors. Sorry, AJ, but as a Cubs fan I can't say that I'm sad to see him leave the Cardinals and the NL. He truly was a Cubs killer over the years.
I'm really shocked that he's left the Cardinals, he was Mr. Cardinal for so long. One of my buddies who is a Cards fan said Albert wanted that huge contract to make up for the years that he was underpaid. BTW: Did you see the Astros hired the Cards Director of Player personel as their new GM. I never heard of him, but I hope he can do something with the team, probably can't do much for 2012 but going forward from there he can make an impact.
What the Yanks are paying Mark Teixera (sp?), who clearly is one of the best first basemen in the majors, now seems like a bargain.
Naaaahhhhhh....Manny's an AL guy....he's clearing out his system until 2013 when he can join the Houston .45's
