With our history I can't say I'm thrilled to see what our admin comes up with this time. To do this now you would think they have someone of substance lined up, but I seriously doubt it. We'll flounder around an then underwhelm everyone with a shot in the dark.
Well lets toss out a few names. Dan Mullen at Miss State Chris Petersen at Boise State Gus Malzahn the Auburn OCoord Kirby John Smart the Bama DCoord Kevin Sumlin Houston Todd Graham Pitt Jim Tressel is available...I wonder if he will ever coach again though. Mike Bellotti wants back into coaching. Jeff Fisher if he doesn't want back into the NFL.
Ugh... I'm hearing now that some of the Big Money boys have already talked to Kevin Sumlin. He was a good OC for us at the end of RC's tenure, but riding Keenum down at UH does not a great Head coach make. Thanks AJ... you are a ray of sunshine in an otherwise dark hour.
Scott what do you think will happen with Tim Deruyter your DCoord? He was highly thought of but this year has been a struggle for the defense, think it's youth and the loss of Von Miller.
Maybe just maybe Peterson realizes he's got a good gig making plenty of money right where he's at, small town probably can leave his back door unlocked. Doesn't live in a fishbowl. He probably can never win an NC at Boise, even if they went to a playoff format, but he can win a lot of games retire well with his stomach lining intact. He can take something away from the failures of previous Boise phenoms like Dirk Koetter and Dan Hawkins, success at Boise doesn't necessarily translate to success at the next place. That said it's always been rumored that he wants to stay in the Northwest with either Washington or Oregon as his dream jobs. I can't imagine that he'd be interested in the UCLA job, even with all their advantages such as great school, beautiful campus, hot chicks, and tons of local talent they can't seem to get anything going.
If you don't think Boise could win in a playoff format, you haven't been paying attention. Let's not forget, they put up Big12/WAC offensive numbers in awful weather (something our sub-Mason Dixon pals worry about) and they've shown they can dominate the lines against the big boys from all of the major conferences... and they are faster than Oregon.. Let's not also forget that starting with Houston Nutt and moving forward to all of the other Boise 'great' head coaches... they had one thing in common, Peterson... Funny, they move on and struggle... He rises in power there and they get better. Why rebuild when you're already one of the best?
 Petersen has officially turned down the UCLA offer. The LA Times says that the Bruins are now courting Miami's Al Golden. http://www.latimes.com/sports/la-sp-ucla-golden-sumlin-20111204,0,6885923.story?track=rss&utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+latimes%2Fsports+%28L.A.+Times+-+Sports%29
Perhaps this year, but even then I doubt it. Twice we saw those two somewhat recently go at it and twice we saw that Boise was bigger, stronger and faster than Oregon. Remember, they totally shut out and shut down the quack attack that left Oregon humiliated and their RB throwing punches at people... a total ass kicking from gun to gun. This Boise team is faster than those 2.
