Texas does not seem interested in playing Texas A&M any time in the near future in any sport. It's not just Texas either, no member of the B12 has any interest in playing Texas A&M in the future in any sport either.

So the game Thursday night will be the last, maybe for a very long time unless a bowl is involved. I saw in the Chronicle today that the Aggies will continue the Aggie Bonfire which has always been before the Texas game and they always have an outhouse on top of the fire with T.U. on the door.

The game could be very ugly. Texas offense is hampered by poor QB play and injured RB's. Our defense however is really really good this year, and I expect them to be ready to go vs the Aggies who have had an excellent first half offense all year, but a some what porous defense. A&M will also be hobbled in terms of their RB's with one out for the year and the other not likely to play. Over/Under on the total score for the game probably should be something around 30.

The Longhorns are 4 point underdogs, and since it is at College Station that really means it's an even game. I'm going to predict an A&M win, just because they have a proven QB and we don't and Scott says their young RB's can tote the rock. Our QB's are awful and our young RB's are great but one has turf toe and the other has lingering hamstring issues. Also our top WR freshman Jaxon Shipley has not played in a couple of weeks and nobody is sure he'll play on Thursday.

So enjoy your Turkey dinner and then watch the last of a great long series Thanksgiving eve.

I saw an article in the Chronicle on long running rivalries that are done because of conference hopping. Texas vs Texas A&M done, Neb vs Kansas done, Neb vs Iowa State done, Neb vs Missouri done, Neb vs OU done. I guess new ones will start up but it'll take a 100 years for them to replace what's been lost.

A better comparison would be UF-Vandy or UF-Ky.

About the same amount of college football fans would miss these annual games as do miss Neb-IaSt or Neb-Ks.

I forgot Neb vs Kansas and Neb vs KState. All of those were very long running rivalires. Of course they rarely won. At one time I believe behind the 44 game winning streak of ND vs Navy were the Neb vs Kansas,Iowa State,KState.... close to 40 years since they won vs Neb...then Dr. Tom retired.

    Unnecessary comment.

    Nice retort, AJ.

Terry, I understand what you are saying. Yes, it's a shame.

Complete List of the 117 meetings between A&M and UT

One of the most famous plays ever in the Series happened while I was a student. It was the Texas special. In the 1967 game, A&M QB Harry Ledbetter threw a backwards pass (lateral) that he purposefully bounced at the feet of A&M WR Dude McLean who picked the ball up and acted disgusted at the "incomplete pass" the Texas defense relaxed and since it was a backwards pass not an incomplete pass he took off for the goal line and scored on a 91 yd run. We won anyway though! :)

Seriously......some annual games are so one-sided they aren't worth watching and do not generate any fan interest whatsoever nationally and those listed fell into that category....as would Fla-Ky or Fla-Vandy.

Granted things are more competitive these days but I have not thought even once of missing Nebraska-Ks.

I'm not sure how I feel about the end of this series.
On the one hand, it's part of the state's history, and a given for the end of football season.
On the other... the attitude of the Texas AD about the whole thing makes a lot of us just want to say "PISS OFF!" to the Longhorns.

Most of the people I know on both sides would like to see it continue, but Deloss Dodds listens to no one... so I guess this is it for a while.

As for the rest of the Big 12... the feeling is mutual: A&M has no interest in playing them either.

If the Aggies don't turn the ball over, they'll run the Longhorns out of the house.
If they do... it will be like the other collapses we've seen this season and a lot of Aggies will leave pissed off.

Aggies looking pretty strong hiding Texas to three and outs on their first two series. The third series is already down to a third and long.

Maybe I napped... Texas just had another three and out and one of the announcers just called it their 4th 3 and out. I only counted three series so far.

Texas gets 6 possessions in the first quarter. Finally get their first 1st down on the last play of the 1st quarter. Maybe that will spark the Texas offense.

Unbelievable win virtually no offense but great defense and a couple big plays plus A& M fouls and we end up with the win.

    Congrats Terry.

6 losses for the Aggies this year, and ALL of them followed the same script.
    Multiple STUPID turnovers.
I agree the Horns have a very good defense, but none of those turnovers was the result of great plays (other than not dropping the ball).
Apparently Tannehill can't see opposing defenders:
He routinely throws DIRECTLY to them.

I'm actually glad this season is over.
    blech...

A&M was screwed on that personal foul penalty on Texas' winning drive. The A&M defender was not even going for the receiver. The receiver ran into him. It had a major impact on the outcome. I normally do not make an issue of refs' calls, but in this case it looks like the B12 refs had the last word in the last rodeo.

P.S. As Bill says below, TX might have won anyway without the call, but it added 15 yards to TX's drive which they wouldn't have had otherwise.

Great game, but A&M's second half fades were consistent throughout the year...

Not wanting to throw stones, but I agree with Sid. To bad as there is every chance Texas wins anyway. But that was a BS call.

I was watching that game with a friend's family. It was all I could do to not shout 'what a ******** call!'

Still, A&M.. my God, how many games have you handed over in just this fashion? Scott, my heart goes out to you.
