So Corey what is the over/under on the attendance at the Houston/UAB game at Legion Field Sat night....kicks at the same time as Bama/LSU.
Oh heck I don't know.. umm how many people usually travel with Houston, 5 to 7k?? The best thing they could do is put up TVs all the way around the stadium and broadcast the LSU/Alabama game for people who couldn't get tickets. They could sell it out no problem. I'd bet that more than half the UAB players would rather be watching LSU-Alabama. The state, by and large, shut down today. It started scaling back starting around noon and by 3 all of the networks were in Ttown. I know, personally, almost a dozen Auburn fans who went down to TTown Friday wearing purple to root for LSU and join in on the party. I was born and raised in the LA Basin, I'm use to hype and bullsh*t. The people here though think this Super Bowl-esque carnival is just fantastic. It's ridiculous... but it's fun.
Corey, I was listening to the Zone on the drive back from South Carolina yesterday and they were talking for at least an hour about "If one team was going to jump out to a 17-0 lead which team would it be" and "which team would be able to come back from a 17-0 deficit". Even I had to turn them off. I'm ready for the kick-off. I have no idea how this will turn out. I think turnovers will be the difference. If both teams play their best game it should be a 17-14 (Bama win of course) knockdown, dragout!
KP, I agree. Both teams tend to use the same strategy. This is a race to a two score lead, probably in the 3rd quarter. I don't see either team being able to overcome a 2 score deficit against the other defense. Then again, that's why they play the game.
Fowler just declared this game the greatest 1 vs 2 that Gameday has been at in his 25 years. Also it's the first 1 vs 2 ever on a SEC campus. Can't count how many have been at ND.
Tough to win a ballgame like that without a solid kicking game.....great intensity, great physical matchup and neither team blinked. Tough loss
This game was a brawl. I'm still amazed at Miles not doing anything stupid, playing conservative and letting talent go against talent. Where the hell is the hatter?
To answer kp's question... Notre Dame has been involved in nine, regular season, #1 vs. #2 games: Date #1 Team #2 Team Outcome 9 October 1943 Notre Dame Michigan W 35–14 20 November 1943 Notre Dame Iowa Pre-Flight W 14–13 10 November 1945 Army Notre Dame L 48–0 9 November 1946 Army Notre Dame T 0–0 19 November 1966 Notre Dame Michigan State T 10–10 28 September 1968 Purdue Notre Dame L 37–22 26 November 1988 Notre Dame Southern California W 27–10 16 September 1989 Notre Dame Michigan W 24–19 13 November 1993 Florida State Notre Dame W 31–24
 The game went pretty much as I expected and I think most people expected what we saw. LSU has a great defense, but they have a little offense too. Alabama doesn't have much offense at all, but their defense is so good that it just suffocates everything. In the end, the only difference was Alabama's lack of offense: against a good defense it really showed. BTW I also agree that the Mad Hatter's composure today was a surprise to me too. He always does something stupid, but today he was on his best behavior and played his cards very close to the vest. Good game between two very good teams.
Great game. This game was just a battle between two great defenses. Disappointing to lose but a great game.
